Hoboken Boy Scouts Blood Drive – May 21st

Hoboken Troop 146 American Red Cross Blood Drive

Hoboken resident and Boy Scout Troop 146 Committee Member Ken Howitt wants to spread the word about this Saturday’s Blood Drive:

“To the Hoboken Community,

This Saturday, May 21st, Hoboken Troop 146 will be holding an American Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Francis Church’s Parish Center at 308 Jefferson Street from 9:30am to 3:30pm.

St. Francis Church is the sponsor of Troop 146, and this blood drive is the “Eagle Project” for Charlie Bates, a Hoboken Resident. Charlie began scouting as a Cub Scout in Pack 146, and when he crossed the bridge to Boy Scout Troop 146, he had earned the “Arrow of Light,” the highest award available to Cub Scouts. As a member of Troop 146, Charlie has had numerous troop leadership positions, including two years as the Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader. He is currently a Life Scout and with the completion of this project will be eligible for his Eagle Board of Review, having already completed the other Eagle requirements. Charlie is a senior at St. Peters Prep and will be attending Villanova University in the fall of 2011.

You can sign up or make donations at following Red Cross web address.

This link will get donors directly to the event’s schedule page and allow them to set up an appointment time. Please note, you do not need an appointment, walk-ins are alright as well. For more complete information about donating blood, people can visit www.redcrossblood.org. The event’s sponsor code is 15172.

On a personal note, as a Troop 146 committee member, it is always a pleasure to see a scout earn this level of accomplishment. I have known Charlie for the last five years and I am very proud of him, and eagerly support this project.

Thanks for your help,

Ken Howitt
