Light Rail accident with truck

Just hearing it now on the Police Scanner.

Light Rail and Truck collide. More to come.

Paterson Street and Newark Street.

Anyone live nearby that can submit photos?

Thanks Anand for the picture!

Jersey City medical center had 1-2 ambulances and a supervisor down there this morning for someone who was sick. They got multiple calls for this, so they had to check a number of different places to ensure that there wasn’t more than one person sick. There may have been additional activity or shutdowns due to vehicles requiring access to the person, and where the person was located. Also, personnel may have been on non-pedestrian access points on the system. For their safety the delay may have also been setup.

Anyone know what was up with the light rail this morning? Slow southbound service towards JC and police action at Pavonia on lightrail on approach to Hoboken Terminal. 30 minutes late was the tally for me.
NJT seems to want to fight like hell instead of putting in barriers. I don’t see why they didn’t do that in the first place, but it seems like a relatively easy fix.

I’m sure it would affect the traffic patterns, but it just seems like the right thing to do. It’s a more visible signal and a deterrant to the drivers who run the red light to cross the tracks.
Hmm, there are barriers at the crossing to a Port Authority maintenance (?) off of Port Imperial Blvd in Weehawken. How many crossings per day are there there? How many here?
