11/15/2007:

Hoboken Comedian / Writer Chris Deluca (of whatsucksblog.com) has a video he’d like all of you to watch.

He writes:

“I am writing you a quick note to ask if you wouldn’t mind helping me on a project I did over the summer that is premiering on this week on the ‘net- and by “help”, I mean “watch”.

The name of the project is “Mo Cap Men” and it is about life working for a Video Game design company (they do motion capture- that is- they digitally record movement for video games) – think “The Office” meets “Tron”. Anyway, the link is below, and it would be great if you could watch it.

Just a word of caution there is some adult language, (and a guy shows his ass) so, you know, perhaps keep the volume down if you’re at work and avoid viewing it in front of “uptight folk”.

I hope you find the piece funny, hopefully this project could eventually lead to more episodes- so far we’ve done six- so as they are unveiled, get ready for more Bcc’d emails to come in the future!

There’s also a free video game I wrote based on the series which is located at…

Thanks.

Your friend,
Chris

See Chris’ one contribution to 411 back in April of this year (was supposed to be a more “regular” feature) after the jump.

4/6/2007:
This is just ironic that I chose Good Friday to start up this new feature called “What Sucks – Hoboken Edition” with guest contributor Chris DeLuca (Hoboken Comedian / Writer).

Chris will try his best to occasionally submit one of his many rants about “what sucks” in and around town.

Today’s “disappointing and sucky” jab is at the new CVS opening up on 14th and Park. Thanks, Chris! Look forward to more sucky material!

What Sucks… Hoboken Edition: A New CVS

cvs-l.jpgA recent walk by the giant commercial space underneath the 14th Street NYSC reveals that Hoboken is getting…a new CVS.

Sigh.

Great, another drug store for Hoboken. Another place that we can buy deodorant at 11:30 at night- that is if you don’t feel like going to the Rite Aid on 13th and Hudson, the Rite Aid on 12th and Willow, the CVS on Clinton between 8th and 9th or the CVS downtown by the PATH.

Tell me, do we as Hobokenites stink that much?

If you’re keeping score, CVS has broken the long-standing tie in the “who has more drug stores franchises in Hoboken” contest, bringing the score to…CVS: 3, Rite Aid: 2. I guess it’s your move, Rite Aid.

This, by the way is besides the excellent pharmacy service we receive at the mom & pop, non-corporate behemoth’s Willow Pharmacy and Tucker Drugs.

Did I miss something? Is this town the “Mile Square City” or the “Drug Store City”? Are people here really dying for a 5th place where they can buy greeting cards, random old DVDs and decades old holiday candy late at night? What gives?

Would it kill us to get a movie theater there? How ’bout a Whole Foods, or a Trader Joe’s? Or a 3rd Charritos?

I guess I should be happy it wasn’t made into a 2500 square foot realty place, or the mother of all nail salons.

But a drug store? What, does Mayor Roberts have CVS stock? (Don’t worry, he’s not reading this, at least not from his office.)

Chris DeLuca is a comic / writer living in Hoboken, he and Adam Wade host the Hoboken Comedy Experiment at the Gold Hawk on the last Monday of each month. Next show is April 30th. You can check out his blog at What-Sucks.blogspot.com.

(Old picture.. sorry! I deleted the latest off my camera like a clumsy nincompoop. Either that, or I can blame Microsoft Vista.)
