Hoboken Police & Fire Blotter: 5/14/2011
Hoboken crime and fire action: May 14th, 2011
An ongoing list of various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls throughout the day for Saturday, May 14, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.
Crimes, Incidents, Fire Calls & Vehicular mishaps
- 4:35am (5/15/2011): Street Assault
Reports of an assault at 8th & Park – HPD and EMS en route. In the rain?
4:45am Update: This was a robbery as well (i.e., “mugging” for the lamen). The suspects (two or three of them) are described as white or Hispanic – possibly driving a car. They took the guy’s wallet and other personal belongings.
4:55am Update: The victim was jumped and punched by this group of thugs. They broke his nose – and the charges at the moment are aggravated assault and robbery. The victim could not give a detailed description of the actors.
- 3:50am (5/15/2011): Minor Car Accident
A taxi cab and a another car driven by a female were involved in a minor accident at Observer & Willow. However, the cab driver states that the woman is trying to drive away. Why do you think that is? (see previous update for a clue.)
- 3:10am (5/15/2011): Mother Nature Curveball
Great. Right when the bars let out – we have heavy downpours in our area. That changes the odds for “drunk driving accidents” a bit now, doesn’t it?
- 2:45am (5/15/2011): Fire Pull-Station Tripped
HFD is on scene now at 200 Lounge – as someone apparently pulled the fire alarm. Hmmm.. maybe they get ejected and wanted revenge?
- 2:25am (5/15/2011): “Man Down”
A man s reported to be “passed out drunk” in the intersection of 3rd & Grand Streets.
- 12:45am (5/15/2011): Attempted Suicide
Reports of a man at 221 Jackson Street who attempted to kill himself. HPD and Hoboken EMS en route.
1:05am Update: “Lots of blood” – as this individual apparently stabbed himself twice – once in the arm, once in the leg. En route to hospital now.
HPD received “multiple calls” that someone was trying to unlawfully gain entrance to an apartment at 155 14th Street. Units dispatched.
Not your typical bar fight – apparently – a patron was upset he didn’t get his change back from the Black Bear establishment. HPD on the way – and will remind this dope that 911 is not to be used for idiotic incidents like this.
Reports of fire alarm activation at HUMC Hospital. This happens at least one a week, maybe more – and are false alarms each and every time. Perhaps they should start paying for each call?
11:40pm Update: Turned out to be “burnt popcorn.” Wait what, do kids from Stevens work there now?
A resident called to complain about loud music at 218 Jefferson Street.
A bouncer from Bahama Mama’s notified HPD indicating they had a fake ID from a person who tried to gain entry into that awesome “poppin” place.
HPD reported that they received a call from an allegedly drunk male in the neighborhood of 7th & Clinton stating something about a “man with a gun.” HPD arrived on scene to find nothing.
Observer Hwy & Monroe – near Hoboken Beer & Soda Outlet. No injuries reported – but Hoboken EMS was dispatched to “check one out…”
More to come later…
