Festival of inconvenient Hoboken dates

The first of the month is a big moving day in Hoboken

Hoboken411 gets tons of emails every day and week – and I try my best to address them all at some given point. This weekend, I caught up a bit – and realized that more than a few notes from readers were concerning the date of our recent Spring Arts & Music Festival – which was held on the first of May.

Now, it’s city policy to hold the Spring festival on “the first Sunday of May,” which happened to fall on the first of the month this year. With that being said – the general consensus was “Doesn’t the city know that the first of the month is MOVING DAY for many new or relocating residents?” Some newcomers were a bit dismayed that they couldn’t park near their apartments – and were hassled with the move and the large crowds for most of the day.

Should city policy should be amended to include “unless it falls on the first day of the month?”

Complaining about the city scheduling the festival on moving day?

Dangerously close to jumping the shark.

Who schedules moves on festival day?

The spring festival has always been the Sunday before Mother’s Day. Do these people have something against small businesses/artists trying to just make a buck?

You can always move at 6pm after Washington Street is reopened if it’s that much of an inconvenience.

What’s next? A call to move the Hoboken Arts and Music Festival to Wednesday?

People who’s last landlord needed them out by the first so the new tenants could move in. From one of the other 565 municipalities in NJ, for example. let alone NY, PA, CT, etc.
Who schedules moves on festival day?
