Birthplace of Baseball: New York?

State of NY disses Hoboken – calls itself “birthplace of baseball”

Historians, residents and politicians all love repeating the phrase “Hoboken: The birthplace of baseball.” Heck, we even have an entire intersection devoted to this premise.

However, if you’re a New York State resident – you can now get customized license plates – calling NY the “birthplace of baseball.”

So who’s right?

Kind of like how the statue of liberty used to be on NY license plates from 1986 through 2000 and now you can get a special NJ plate with it.
