Hoboken Police and Fire Blotter: 5/5/2011
Hoboken crime and fire action: May 5, 2011
- 4:25am (5/6/2011): Disorderly Drunk
HPD en route to handle a “disorderly drunk” at the intersection of 13th & Park. Maybe he’s mad this location has been vacant for years?
- 2:20am (5/6/2011): Street Fight
Reports of a street fight at 6th & Bloomfield Streets.
- 2:15am (5/6/2011): Attempted carjacking
A visitor to Hoboken almost had his car stolen right from him, as an alleged carjacker attempted to gain control of his vehicle near 2nd & Jefferson. Car wasn’t stolen luckily.
- 1:10am (5/6/2011): Fight spills onto street
The previous fight is now a “large fight” at 3rd & Washington – and backup is being requested. Due to HPD being short-staffed – they have no backup – and will have to call out of town for assistance.
1:15am Update: Three arrests. One female. Situation cleared.
- 1:00am (5/6/2011): Club Assault
Reports of an assault at the “200 Lounge” (above Tutta Pasta.)
- 11:10pm: Hit & Run accident
Another hit & run car accident – 3rd & Washington. A 2007 green Ford Edge WEP-42S struck another car and fled northbound. You will be caught dude!
Kids playing baseball at the Stevens field at 4th & River apparently hit the ball out of the park – and broke a residents window. He’s now “irate” and will not settle for the restitution the kids are able to make. Guess the “told ya so” phrase for this incident would be “You knew you were living next to a ball field…”
A bicyclist was struck by a car at 4th & Garden. A child was the victim and was brought to the hospital for treatment.
Like it has happened over and over in the past – big rig 18-wheelers get stuck again in a residential Hoboken neighborhood.
At 4th & Washington – another pedestrian struck by two-ton metal object with wheels. (Insert snarky, sarcastic, cynical comment here.)
Shoprite has some good security. They busted yet another shoplifter trying to remove items from the store without paying. You’d think the potential of getting detained by a security guard at a grocery store is embarrassing enough to act as a deterrent…
More updates to come…
