Davida Salon & Day Spa

Davida Salon – Hoboken, NJ – 710 Adams St

Davida Salon was previously knocked down for the count by Hurricane Sandy due to the flooding that will forever plague 1st Street. They moved temporarily to the Sky Club – but have since found a more permanent location over at 710 Adams Street (around the corner from the Citadel).

It’s a tough spot for drivers passing by to see, since it’s a basement location behind a tree, so hopefully they’ll get great word-of-mouth referrals. They updated their phone number too. See below.

I originally started going to Davida Salon aprox. 4 years ago when my stylist began working at this salon. The first couple of years were great (in fact, I wrote a positive Kennekt review for them in April 2006). However, since my stylist relocated out of the area 2 years ago I have experienced a never-ending rotation of new stylists at this salon! 5 different stylists in 2 years! I am not sure why they cannot retain their employees. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the quality of their single process color has significantly decreased since changing color companies a few months back. I brought the matter to Davida’s attention and she agreed that the root color/new growth was too light due to their new color supplier and assured me my next color treatment would correct the problem. Unfortunately, my next color appointment results were just as disappointing. In fact, my boyfriend who is usually unobservant asked what I was doing different to my hair since it had different colors and was uneven! It’s a shame that Davida changed color companies and now does a horrible color. Frankly, coloring my hair at home would look better and be a lot less expensive!

I am so glad that there is a place to leave an honest comment about this salon! I went there as a birthday gift to myself and was convinced by the staff that “reconditioning” my hair would make it smoother and easier to handle. What I got instead was a head full of burned out hair that took over a year to fix (cut off and grow back). Davida offered to condition my hair to help but when I asked for my money back, I never heard from them again. They are not as experienced as they say they are and not as professional as they should be. I tried to leave this comment on Kennetix but both times it strangely didn’t appear. It is obvious that they have the ability to edit thier reviews.I think people should know so they can make an educated decision and not spend time and money trying to fix their mistakes.

I go to Heather at Davida’s (She’s a former Mad One Jacks person). I am a pretty constant color changer and I always get tons of compliments. It is a little expensive, but I used to pay big bucks in Manhattan, and she has been the best I’ve found (and it helps that they are around the corner from me!). I even sent my mother there, when she was visiting from out of town, and she loved it.
