Calling all candidates

3/27/2007 Reminder:

Any candidate that wants to submit letters, platforms or any related material, is more than welcome to do so.

Can anyone suggest why most of them haven’t jumped on this opportunity to reach 10’s of thousands of people with their campaign ideas?

3/5/2007:
As 411 mentioned a month ago, this site is available for any any all Council candidates to submit their platform ideas and participate in an open discussion with Hoboken residents.

2/5/2007:
Over the next few months, Hoboken411 is inviting all candidates running for Hoboken City Council to submit their entries for public discussion. If you wish to be included, send information to hoboken411@gmail.com. Here’s a list of current incumbents (from the city website).

hoboken-city-council-chambers.gifThe petitions don’t become a formal bid for candidacy until March 15th.

Frankly, I have my doubts whether each and every candidate will even want to get involved with Hoboken411, but the choice is theirs to make. They have tens of thousands of Hoboken residents at their fingertips waiting to hear what they have to say. Not saying it won’t be hard to prevent the riff-raff from soiling the discussion, however, I’d request that everyone try to be on their best behavior. Interact as if you’re speaking publicly at a council meeting.

As an alternative, readers can submit their questions to each candidate in the comments section (once it is set up), and 411 will deliver the reasonable inquiries to each candidate to answer.

Maybe it’s time the Hoboken political process finally made it to the 21st Century. I’m sure the readers will have a level of respect for any candidate willing to participate here.

Let the debate begin!

is that the “word on the street”? πŸ˜†

Who is going to be condescending to the public speakers during council meetings then? Oh, wait I forgot, Campos will still be there for that.

What is Sherman’s role here? Is he an internal watchdog? Is Sherman now Roberts’ Archibald Cox? In Hoboken ’07 it’s the Monday Night Massacre.
Maybe Sherman got just a little to close to the flame. Follow the money, baby. Follow the money.

Did Sherman release a statement?
