Wet Weather coming

The National Weather Service has put our area under a Flash Flood Watch. This may apply more to areas that have more snow on the ground, but how will this affect our lovely 100+ year old drainage system?

HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED ACROSS NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND NEW YORK CITY AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING. EXPECT PRECIPITATION TO DEVELOP THIS EVENING…THEN BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES FROM AFTER MIDNIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING. THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD TAPER OFF FROM WEST TO EAST EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. WHILE NEW YORK CITY AND LONG ISLAND AND MOST OF NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY WILL SEE ONLY RAIN…INTERIOR PORTIONS WILL LIKELY START WITH A WINTRY MIX OF SNOW…SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN…BEFORE CHANGING TO ALL RAIN AT MOST LOCATIONS BY AFTER MIDNIGHT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 2.5 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY…NEW YORK CITY AND LONG ISLAND.

I saw that chick that is running in the election taking pictures of the flooding and all the backed up traffic this morning.
Oh, and since it was raining there were no cops in site!

My friend was telling me that flood insurance doesn’t cover damage from flooding due to sewers being backed up. She says in Hoboken you could only get $ from insurance if the Hudson overflowed. I live on Monroe and I can’t imagine ever seeing the Hudson river being the cause of my flooding problem. Does anyone know if she’s right and what flood events FEMA flood insurance actually covers? I haven’t looked into this myself yet. Our condo building just got a notice from FEMA that we need to get more coverage for our building (someone has to pay for katrina)… It makes me cringe to think that we wouldn’t get any $$ after paying so much in premiums every year if god forbid one of these storms caused damage to our building.

At the SW Redevlopment meeting on Monday night, the present 4th Ward Councilman held up a picture of parked cars in water up to their widshields on 1st and Harrison Streets and said this doesn’t happen anymore and the residents should not be complaining.

Yet another reason to vote on May 8.

RAPPERD, if 411 gives gold stars, you should get one. Infrastructure, mo fo. You’d think Roberts would demand that in return for a 20 year tax abatement Ursa would pay for a new sewer for the effluent flowing from all of its properties into the ancient sewer systems of Hoboken. But nope, that’s specifically excluded from the contracts signed by the City. Maybe Roberts will ponder such things while he’s laying belly-first, spread eagle on his bunk in his two man at the max-sec lockdown in Camden. (“Stop yo’ squeelin’, bitch!)

That Legal Foods place in the photo was a joke. The old freak who owns the building used to come into Rogo’s every morning for about three or four eye-openers and tell us the two dudes who ran the joint would bitch and moan about the rent and he’d say, “Wuzzamata? You not sellin’ enough low carb macaroni?” “Wuzzaprobbem? Nobody want you low-carb peanut butter?” Then we’d all laugh and have another scotch and soda and listen to his whacked out insights. That old drunk should’ve kept that place a bakery.
