Hoboken violates own parking laws daily

3/30/2011 Update:

Will Sacs hunt down Director Maier for this?

Here’s a photo of a city Environmental Services pickup truck illegally parked too close to the intersection of 12th & Washington Streets this afternoon.

Will this vehicle be rushed to the city garage and more scuffles ensue?

2/8/2011:

Hoboken Parking Hypocrisy MUST Stop!

It’s one thing when a Hoboken Police or Fire vehicle is attending to an emergency call. They can block streets, park on the corner, or do whatever they need to do to arrive on the scene as quickly as possible.

But lowly municipal workers who don’t feel like walking an extra few feet to get their coffee and donuts at Town Hall? Ridiculous!

Right next to City Hall at 1st and Bloomfield this afternoon – there was not one, not two, not three, but FOUR illegally parked city vehicles blocking the view at this very dangerous intersection at the same time. I guess there must have been a big emergency meeting lunch between Environmental Services and the Hoboken Parking Utility to warrant such offenses (Dawn Zimmer appointed the “Directors” of each of those departments).

Just remember – the same city who issues tickets like Pez and pickpockets residents while they deal with crumbling infrastructure and horrific parking & road conditions – thinks it’s perfectly OK for them to do whatever they want without repercussions. When will this stop?

Maybe we need to start a private “Citizen Parking Boot Authority?”

It’s not only cars of city hall workers who don’t get ticketed, if you walk down Clinton St, you see cars double parked all day. Maybe the traffic wardens are all on a quota. Ticket 2 or 3 cars a day, and take the rest of the day off.

Just drove down Bloomfield and guess what’s parked in the exact same place? A white Jeep Liberty with Hoboken Parking Utility stamped on the side, obstructing visibility. But yeah, I’m sure they are realllly sorry.

Spoke to my source in city hall , he tell’s me allthough the drivers of the black and white jeeps know they were wrong they do apologize to the public. But in there defence they only parked there for like 10 minutes ,they are in and out of city hall all day long. They are on the run doing inspections and at that day there was no where to park and both had to drop off paper work on there desks.

That makes it okay to break the law? Isn’t that a form of anarchy?[quote comment=”203295″]Spoke to my source in city hall , he tell’s me allthough the drivers of the black and white jeeps know they were wrong they do apologize to the public. I don’t see anything wrong with it, they are Municipal Vehicles and should have special privledges. Just like US Postal Vehicles carry an emergency status.

The big problem in the above pictures is the black Jeep parked in front of Buskers. If i am driving up Bloomfield I have a stop sign but there is NO WAY to see if anyone is coming up 1st street when I try to drive across. It is an acident waiting to happen.
