Update: Added another (more graphic) photo from 411 reader Arelys. Not a pretty sight at all. Be careful out there!

Icy conditions cause traffic snarling accident on Willow

Hoboken411 reader Andrew sent in these pics of the bad accident on Willow Ave this morning. Four people were injured (one seriously) when a garbage truck slid and veered into oncoming traffic.

I live in the building directly in front of where this happened. I was actually awoken by the BAM of the crash… it was absolutely traumatizing. The person in the car under the garbage truck must definitely be dead… poor guy was probably just driving to work as we all do everyday… sad… very sad…

Just add you got whiplash as a result of being traumatically awaken and the amberlamps chasers will be lining up to take your case.[quote comment=”202809″]I live in the building directly in front of where this happened. According to post #9 Escaped68 and as well as according to News12NewJersey last night there were no fatalities just bad injuries.[quote comment=”202809″]I live in the building directly in front of where this happened. Any confirmation on whether there were fatalities involved in this accident? If so, I suspect criminal charges will be coming forthwith!

Two things. The first is that your use of the word “confirmation” of fatalities almost makes it sound like you want there to be. I assume you didn’t intend that though! The second thing is that I doubt criminal charges would be filed unless you have information others do not (substance abuse, vehicular tampering, reckless driving). The fact that the road conditions were horrible is only going to make the party at fault less culpable, unless something out of the ordinary was going on.[quote comment=”202808″]Any confirmation on whether there were fatalities involved in this accident? I have seen some nasty truck accidents and a couple involving garbage trucks and fatalities come to mind. Approximately half of all commercial vehicles fail roadside inspections, so think about that next time a big rig is in your rearview mirror. I would suspect the larger carriers have better safety records than the mom and pop trucks (liek I see around the port).
