FastFrame – Doomed

Fast Frame goes out of business in Hoboken, NJ

Wow, today’s Right Angle Framing 50% off coupon couldn’t have come at a better time!

Last week, FastFrame at 1114 Washington Street went out of business.

This location simply closed down – with no plans to move to another retail spot. Rents were too high, and apparently “custom framing” is one of those luxuries that tend to drop off as the economy dwindles. If you really dug this store, you can head up River Road to Edgewater (near Trader Joe’s) to get your Fast Frame Fix (map).

Latest word on the street was that this might become a men’s barbershop.

Description: Picture framing and associated services. Mats and moldings, custom framing, including object and shadow box enclosures, fabric wrapping, conservation and preservation program, artwork, published prints, posters, original art. Empty Storefront.

A shame to see people invest life savings to open a business in town. Landlord greed doesn’t allow for this. The owners of Fast Frame would probably have more of a business success selling frames on Ebay and not have to pay high rents.

Should look into the Rag Shop in Edgewater (or Secaucus). They do a good job and the rates are MUCH better.

There’s a place on 12th street, up near Washington (but on 12th I believe) that did BEAUTIFUL work for me a couple of years ago – they were also reasonably priced. I would take my business to them anytime (if they’re still open).

has anyone been to any frame shops in town? looks like i have at least 5 to choose from.. i’ve never had anything custom framed before, but i have some posters and stuff that are old and getting all torn up from using scotch tape and tacky and moving them a couple times a year. i don’t want anything too expensive, but the cheap generic ones from linens n things weren’t cutting it either, they fall apart… just looking for a friendly, reasonable place.
