Hoboken Xmas Trees Neglected?

1/25/2011:

Christmas Tree pickup just stopped?

Hoboken411 has received emails – and have been approached on the street about an interesting trend… Christmas trees aren’t being picked up!

In case you haven’t noticed – many disposed Christmas Trees have set on the curb for over a week now, despite the regularly scheduled trash pickups. What happened? Did someone at City Hall tell the trash haulers not to pick them up anymore? How long are they going to clog the sidewalks?

Why are some people just not getting to throwing out their Christmas Tree almost a month after the holiday ended?

Snow.

If you buy your tree from the JC Garden Center on 14th in Jersey City they will pick it up for $10 and dispose of it for you.
Why are some people just not getting to throwing out their Christmas Tree almost a month after the holiday ended?
Trees dry out and are a fire harzard if kept too long – 5 weeks even if watered. From a tradition viewpoint, trees are to be set out after Jan 6 the visitation of the Magi. Christmas was a month ago. I hope little Johnny understands that the dog is only playing fire marshal.

Some trees that have been there for days and days! I feel bad for little kids who see their Christmas trees peed on by dogs and later crushed underneath piles of garbage-guess that teaches junior not to be too sentimental!

Anyhow, I was glad to see our tree got picked up by the next morning, and wasn’t left to hang around forlornly like some others…
