Hoboken police and fire blotter: 2/6/2011
Hoboken crime and fire action: February 6, 2011
Various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls throughout the day for Sunday, February 6, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.
- 1:00am (2/7): Foot Pursuit (i.e., “free workout”)
HPD was recently involved in a foot pursuit near 6th and Marshall Drive… and apprehended some kind of suspect. They were either wanted for something nefarious – or were caught in the act. Either way – good job HPD!
- 12:47am (2/7): Man Down!
Reports of a “Man Down” downtown (near the Chock Full of Nuts). Anyone wanna take bets on whether booze was involved?
- 11:07pm: Pit Bull Dog Bite!
Just reported – a Pit Bull bit two “mammals.” One man and his dog, were attacked by a Pit Bull near 801 Madison Street. Oh boy, more bad PR for Pit Bulls – when in fact it’s the owners that are usually the problem…
- 10:55pm: “Falling coolers above!”
Reports that someone threw a cooler off the Skyline Condo Building downtown… Wonder if it was an angry bi-polar ex-councilperson?
- 10:20pm: Street Fight
518 Washington Street – “Street fight, headed towards 6th Street…”
- 8:30pm: Wandering Drunk
In the area of 2nd and Jackson – reports of a drunk walking in and out of traffic. Me thinks he bet Steelers and the under for the first half…
- 4:20pm: Warm weather + idiots = ?
Reports of kids throwing snowballs at the intersection of Newark and Harrison. Luckily it’s not convertible weather yet.
- 3:45pm: Learn to cook
Another false alarm of fire at 800 Madison. HFD still has a tough time navigating city streets due to snow – and drivers still block hydrants. Thank God it wasn’t a real fire.
- 12:40pm: More snow cleanup
River St. between 1st & 2nd to be closed in both directions while more icy, dog poop-filled mounds of snow are cleared away. Wonder if the city will shut thoroughfares down in the summer, if a kid drops a snow cone on the street…
- 12:30pm: Leaky Car
12th & Washington – reports of gasoline leaking from a parked vehicle. HFD responded, and rectified the situation. Washington St. was closed for about 10 minutes.
- 8:40am: Pedestrian vs. Car
At the corner of 2nd & Jackson – initial reports that a NYC taxi cab struck a pedestrian. However, after details became clearer – it was a drunk that “fell on the hood of the taxi.”
More updates to come…
