Blizzard cleanup begins in Hoboken

12/27/2010:

Mile Square slowly digs out from Blizzard

The strenuous process of cleaning up the frozen mess Mother Nature delivered to Hoboken and the entire tri-state area has begun. Residents are trying to shovel, walk, and find a way to get where they’re going.

Below is Volume 4 of the Hoboken Blizzard Photo Contest gallery of reader submissions.

Hoboken Police Headquarters Ignored

I noticed that while the cops were handling the very tough task of maintaining order during the epic blizzard – it seems that City Hall completely ignored the most important place: Police Headquarters!

While the city focused on plowing and shoveling parks – HPD officers had to climb through drifts of snow to enter their own HQ. I know the city administration is bitter about a lot of things – but taking it out on the men and women that keep our streets safe is a low-blow and unprofessional.

Plough just got stuck b/n 8th and 9th on Willow. Absolute mess. The camper stuck further down is apparently a band.

I walked by that camper at 7th and Willow. About 2 hours later I walked past it at 5th and Willow.
Plough just got stuck b/n 8th and 9th on Willow. Absolute mess. The camper stuck further down is apparently a band.
yeah that NY camper, who was stuck on Willow the entire morning, looked like a rock band. Almost felt sorry for the guy with the bleached hair and black skinny jeans and converse sneakers trying to put cardboard under the tires for 4 hours. He might still be there – haven’t checked. But it is a disaster out there, haven’t seen such a lousy clean-up by this city in years.
