Hoboken Parking Info: 12/21/2010

12/21/2010:

Holiday Parking & Permit Renewals

Item 1: Parking Meters and Alternate Side of the Street (sweeper) parking enforcement is suspended in Hoboken from December 24th through January 1st. Permit rules will continue being enforced, however.

Item 2: Speaking of permits – have you noticed that renewal notices were sent out recently (albeit with a major typo). The city now says you have until January 15th to renew your residential parking permits. Did you know that there has never been such little time to renew? Are they doing this by design so MORE PARKING TICKETS can be issued starting on January 16th? In years past – you had until February – even March to renew. Does the HPU office at city hall have the capacity to handle thousands of renewals in such a short time?

I could understand the shortened renewal time if online renewal was in place – but this is total crap done on purpose to steal more money from residents.

Went this morning to renew my sticker. The line was insane, went through the whole basement. Tried to buy hang tags at the same time so I didn’t have to back to that hell whole, and after 10 minutes of trying, they realized the weren’t “in the system” yet. To make it great, I went outside to an expired meter ticket because they were slow as hell. Happy New Year HPU!
