Gambling with intersection safety

12/15/2010:

City vehicle blocks intersection for scratch offs

Hoboken411 reader willow sent in this photo near 9th and Willow Avenues the other day. This city vehicle was parked in the least safe area of this intersection.

For what? The reader indicated that the employee likes to play scratch-off lottery tickets inside the Willow Pharmacy.

The person might have been doing their job. They might have been on their break. But those facts (or suppositions) along with the comments on their physical appearance or supposed mental capacity are not are relevant as this simple fact.

The cart was parked illegally. The cart was parked in way that increases the hazards to drivers and pedestrians.

This person is an absolute moron bottom line.
Have ya seen the shape of the people that drive these things! No brains watsoever.
But these are the only people that would do this job so amazingly enough we need this type of person in the world.
The best is…if his supervisor was to reprimand him for this he would actually need an explanation as to why or what he did was so wrong….”huh?”…sad.

no jerky it’s morons like you that mess this city up by throwing garbage in the streets, and as far as the shape of the people that drive these things maybe you should look in the mirror A-HOLE, these people clean up after you and they do get a break which they can do what they feel. And by the way he was doing his job by picking up garbage for the pharmacy, so know what your talking about before you comment.[quote comment=”200943″]This person is an absolute moron bottom line.Have ya seen the shape of the people that drive these things! I have represented a number of sanitation workers and they are not the sharpest tools in the shed. Example, NY Department of Sanitation actually allows convicted felons on the payroll. The workers are notoriously loafing on the job and continually have issues with work and productivity.

That being said, how is the spot unsafe?
1 – the vehicle is not blocking either cross-walk;
2 – drivers on Willow have a stop sign (many tend to roll through it because they are entitled motorists) and the cars should be able to see traffic coming from Clinton Street;
3 – motorists on 9th should be able to proceed safely across Willow, because the cars should stop at the stop sign; and
4 – drivers in this town should just slow the fu(k down and have some patience.[quote comment=”200956″]no jerky it’s morons like you that mess this city up by throwing garbage in the streets, and as far as the shape of the people that drive these things maybe you should look in the mirror A-HOLE, these people clean up after you and they do get a break which they can do what they feel. How is this spot unsafe

1. He’s blocking the view at Willow, looking down 9th
2. the back end of the vehicle is, indeed, in the crosswalk
3. he’s within the 15 feet or whatever of the intersection (indeed, dead-bang on the corner)
and, 4. You are NEVER permitted to right park on an intersection corner like that

There, wasn’t so hard. Four violations of safety and/or regulations. You couldn’t see any of them? Really? You must be a typical Hoboken driver. There are these strange things called “traffic regulations.” You should go back and learn some of them.
