Rainbow Colors on Empire State Building

To commemorate Furthur concert at MSG

For those wondering what those rainbow colors were on the Empire State Building – and were disappointed to see “Private Lighting” listed – know that it was for the Furthur Concert (Phil Lesh & Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead) at Madison Square Garden.

I think the ESB lights the past 3 nights were paid for. The official ESB site said they were going to be white, when someone inquired, the response from the ESB was that it was a private lighting. Regardless, thanks to the stoners for a lovely display!

Friends and I were looking at the ESB last night wondering the same thing. Now I know the answer. Thanks!

Saw The Empire State Building from the viaduct last night. I saw the rainbow colors. I loved them. I didn’t know it was for the Furthur concert until reading 411. “Thanks for the info Perry!” Were they commerating an anniversary/occasion? or was it done just for shits and giggles?

so let me get this straight…it’s OK to honor a couple of stoner dudes who made up half of a band form he 60’s, but not to honor Mother Theresa????

anyone else see what is wrong with this?

One correction – the name of the band is “Furthur”, with a second “U”. Like Ken Kesey’s bus.
