Doggie Conundrum Uptown Hoboken

11/9/2010:

Hoboken not always so dog friendly

Hoboken411 reader Nikki sent in this humorous photo of dogs lining up for a tree – and added “This is what it is like… trying to find a place for our dogs to pee in Hoboken!”

I responded, a bit perplexed – asking “Doesn’t your dog just pee on any tree, pole or sign post he wants to?” at which she elaborated the true reason for her submission.

It seems that a combination of the ridiculous street collapse uptown – along with ignorant nanny’s and stroller moms who believe that dogs = “poison and death,” have made it a bit unpleasant for her dog to have a simple walk around the neighborhood.

What is with the entitlement?

“The dogs in the “Shi*yard” really don’t have free reign of the poles and signs. Too many stay at home Moms with their Nanny’s pushing the spawn complaining how gross and nasty dogs are. They are teaching their children to stay away from “doggy” … “doggy” dirty and have germs… do not touch!

With the fencing now… the dogs have lost a lot of pee space. Being mine had two torn acl’s since July.. he is extremely limited now.

Mommies control the “Shi*yard” along with majority of everything else in Hoboken. It is great because they all rent and we live in the highest assessed building in Hoboken and pay huge taxes. We like taking care of all Mommies and spawn!! Used to love children… until I met the people in “Hoboken” that reproduce these days.

Had to vent the frustration of being an enormous taxpayer and living in the “shi*yard”! Gotta hate Hoboken!!! NYC hopefully here we come!

Hoboken is synonymous to “Entitlement!”

“Rise from the ashes” aside from being a mass of condradictions your statements are false. “However, children do not crap or piss on a sidewalk.” I beg to differ- just saw a crap filled diaper on the sidewalk and I semi-regularly see parents encouraging their children to piss and poo in the park.

Ah, it’s threads like these that continue to make me so happy to be working with dogs and not humans.

Face it folks, we live in a society were most people will talk and demand the rights they feel entitled to, but no one wants to mention the associated responsibilities.

Irresponsible parents of little humans or furry critters do not take kindly to interference. The don’t want to be told where there precious Freddie or Fido can do his business.

Once the number of irresponsible people hits a noticeable number, even if they are a small 5% they are much easier to spot. People tend see and remember what pisses them off much than things that they have neutral feelings about. And most people are ambivalent about the actions of other people.

I think it is time for a no tolerance ticket blitz of $1000 fines and community service. Just yesterday afternoon a pudgy couple wearing black was walking their long haired Golden Retriever on the grass at Maxwell Place right next the kids playground and where a man was playing soccer with his son. The dog took a nice big dump there, the picked it up and ran off but did not get all of it. Great just great, gonna have some nice poop stains on the ball and on the kid now, next time yuppies I will be taking pics to shame you and file a complaint with the city. Another middle aged lady with her 30 ft extension leash and her Rat Terrier was wakling around the kids play area on the the grass and between the shrubs. Lady if your dog needs to take a leak don’t walk it next to the play area, common sense. The amount of poop and skid marks all of the place on the waterfront walkways is disgusting, time for a ticket blitz.

Nikki, I suspect you are one of those assholes with a 12 foot retractable leash who walks your dog on the sidewalk by the water oblivious to those running and walking around you.

The tone of your e-mail clearly indicates that you are the one who believes that your shit machine (dog) has a higher level in Hoboken than a child. I will make sure when I am out running with my kid in the jogging stroller to aim at the leash that is extended 10′ and we will see what happens to your peanut butter eating dog.

Just because no man will date you long term because you have an annoying dog, is no reason to blame everyone for your issues.

FYI – the shipyard is a mix of rental and condo.

This morning some bitch tried letting her dog piss on my front stoop just as I was getting ready to walk out of the door, it did not occur to her that piss on someone’s stoop is an asshole thing to do.

Dogs do not belong in urban settings anyway…get a cat!

“Rise From the Ashes”, what constitutes a “higher level” of entitlement seems to be the real issue here in Hoboken. That you think your child is special is a normal delusion, but to judge another and feel you are more fit possibly than a dog owner who doesn’t date is ridiculous. I have to ask, all comparisons aside, do you think your mentality leads you to be any contributor to this community or do you care even a small amount to move towards any common ground with your fellow being? Perhaps the is hope in your next rebirth… I trust that you will “Rise From the Ashes” soon.[quote comment=”199886″]Nikki, I suspect you are one of those assholes with a 12 foot retractable leash who walks your dog on the sidewalk by the water oblivious to those running and walking around you.The tone of your e-mail clearly indicates that you are the one who believes that your shit machine (dog) has a higher level in Hoboken than a child. nope..there is no cure for stupid and it seems to be running rampant in town!

I blame Dawn Zimmer for the conditions of poop at the Shipyard.[quote comment=”199939″]“Rise From the Ashes”, what constitutes a “higher level” of entitlement seems to be the real issue here in Hoboken. I OWN a condo in the shipyard and am a parent. The author of the email lives in my building. She carries extra bags to pick up after the inconsiderate dog owners. I see you will be teaching your kid to be the enormous AHole you are. Dog owners have just as much a right to live here as you. Especially tax paying dog owners. I am ashamed to be a fellow parent with you in the mix. You are a prime example of why people should not be parents. Please ready the author’s email she is complaining about parents in the Shipyard. I suspect you missed that part. Dog owners may have as much of a right to live here as me, but a dog does not have the same rights as a child. You are not one of my fellow parents, I have been to the Shipyard and the Euro-trash factor is a little much for me. I try avoid Elysian park when kids run in diapers under that makeshift sprinkler thinking that it is a water park. I tell my 3 and 6 year old children that kids are playing where pigeons take baths and the dogs pee. At the end of her e-mails she states “Had to vent the frustration of being an enormous taxpayer and living in the “shi*yard”! Gotta hate Hoboken!!! NYC hopefully here we come!” Does this scholar really think anyone in NYC acts any less entitled? In Brooklyn the battle is the same: http://news.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/07/06/the-park-slope-parent-trap/ http://gothamist.com/2010/07/06/the_gate_joins_park_slope_stroller.php If she thinks Manhattan parents are any less pretentious she has another thing coming. You can’t spew word vomit like that and not expect retaliation. While I agree that retractable leashes are idiotic and annoying, some would all together liken your reference to dogs at ‘shit-machines’ as an apt description of your child. Or yourself. Or myself. After all, you eat – you shit. I’m assuming you’re not one of those parents who has read to their child the oh-so popular book “Everyone Poops.” Otherwise you wouldn’t have made such an inane comment. Remember – not all dog owners are neglectful of their dog’s shit. Otherwise you would have it all over your stroller. And feet. As for dogs ‘not belonging in an urban setting’……if that was actually the case cities would not allow them. So go take your ‘jogging stroller’ and jog (hopefully not in the middle of the sidewalk, which I have a hunch is what you’ll do) to your nearby council person and complain. They’ll laugh at you. Just like everyone who read your post did. I’m also not sure how you are aware of the original poster’s dating status. Do explain – it’s intriguing because of how utterly bitter you are.[quote comment=”199886″]Nikki, I suspect you are one of those assholes with a 12 foot retractable leash who walks your dog on the sidewalk by the water oblivious to those running and walking around you.The tone of your e-mail clearly indicates that you are the one who believes that your shit machine (dog) has a higher level in Hoboken than a… Read more »

Nice response. Every block in this City has dog crap piles or streaks on the sidewalk and I am the d-bag. You have a very screwed up perspective on life.

I am actually quite respectful of other residents and consciously try to avoid being one of the a-holes that I cannot stand. However, children do not crap or piss on a sidewalk.

Church square park smells like piss and shit during August on a nice hot day – not because of all the kids playing – it is because of all the dog piss (this is in a dog run).

Why do you think property owners have placed signs “Curb Your Dog” outside of their property? It is because the entitled dog owner thinks it is okay to piss on someone’s property.

I am a d-bag because I call an asshole and asshole. Nice.
