Green Entrepreneurs open in time for holidays

This past summer Sandy Martiny and Bev Brown launched the Home Economics collection of sensible and eco-friendly products on a shoestring, gorilla style. Keeping its own footprint small Home Economics operates out of a shared commercial space with a window box gallery in western Hoboken. The full Home Economics line of goods can be seen and purchased from www.home-economics.net. Local patrons who shop the website can arrange to have free delivery (Hoboken only) or store pick-up during open hours.

With backgrounds in the art world, education, small business, and non- profit management, these local entrepreneurs bring their latest project to brick and mortar just in time for holiday shopping. Toast the season with Home Economics where you will find beautiful, sustainable gifts and essentials for the family, home, kitchen, for life on the go and for the way you want to live now. Home Economics celebrates the green found in contemporary and traditional design and craft. Celebrate sustainability and innovation with Home Economics.

Home Economics is open 24 hours a day via the website, www.home-economics.net or most weekends 12-6 pm at 410 6th Street, Hoboken, NJ 07307

Hope the prices are fair, because in this economy many of us are choosing economical over environmental.

Dear Mrs. L,

Economics are very important to us too! We are looking for value in general and the Home Economics price range is broad. Visit the website and you’ll find plenty affordable products starting at $3.99 and many which fall in the under $35 category. Most of our cleaning products are very concentrated and very economical when used according to instructions. The good news is that there are many great choices available in the green retail sector. Our goal is to find them for you!!

Hope to see you at the opening!

Mrs. L —
Economical comes in many forms. Cheaper is not always better. And for some of us environmentally responsible choices, while sometimes a bit more costly at the purchase point, are indeed the wiser more cost effective choices in the long run. You’re right that times are hard just now. I can’t always buy the items and products I’d like to. But I do my research and more often than not find that I can absolutely justify the cost of “green.”
