Brown Water & Hoboken: Perfect Together

11/1/2010:

United Water says no danger; but it sure is gross!

Hoboken411 reader Joel was the proud recipient of some very brown water coming out of his pipes this past weekend.

“Between the road collapse (to be fixed for next summer) and this recurrent water problem, I feel for the safety of my family and friends in Hoboken. We called United Water this morning, they said “don’t worry, its because of the flushing out of fire hydrant, and there’s nothing dangerous with the sediment.”

Would you cook or brush your teeth with this wate, or drink it? How safe can it be?”

Thirsty, anyone?

It’s safe if you want to catch a wicked case of disentary (not sure of spelling).

Yuck. Brown water is one thing, but when it smells bad is when I get concerned.

This happens at my place of work (actually pretty frequently) and United Water always reminds us that it’s not a health concern. I personally won’t touch the water when it’s like this; thankfully, the problem seems to correct itself in a day.
