Does anyone care about the kids?
Here’s a prime example of what happens when no one wants to take responsibility for anything – or at least get the balling rolling to propagate some action. Shoulder shrugging and finger pointing. One Hoboken mom sent the following letter to 411:
Who will step up to the plate?
“Some friends and I noticed the other day that the park on Madison and 3rd (Madison Street Park) has a large whole in the back side of the fence.
It looks large enough for a small child to easily get through. I notified the local school, St. Francis, where the children at that school use that park. The school contacted the city, who informed the school that it is not the city’s responsibility to fix the fence at the park. Our school Director said the city told them it is the apartment building behind the park that is responsible for fixing the park fence. I bring it to the attention of Hoboken residents since it is a large hole in a city park fence and the city is not taking responsibility.”
Sure – it may not be a big hole, but with all the creeps wandering to Hoboken – you can never be too safe!
