Saturday Night PD Action

10/17/2010:

Hoboken Police have crazy busy night

Maybe it’s the MLB Playoffs, the change of seasons, recent wacky weather, or perhaps lack of summer shore houses – but for a while tonight on the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action Channel, things got frenetic.

Crazy Hoboken Police Action in Hoboken on October 17, 2010

Witching hour…

Between around 2:30am and 3:00am – the “drunks hit the fan” simultaneously – there was a car accident at 6th and Washington requiring medical assistance – and some kind of assault / fight at the 2nd Street parking garage. Details still forthcoming, but apparently a “Hispanic or light skinned black male, wearing a red leather coat, and carrying a camera” was involved in a fight where three or four individuals were injured – one possibly seriously. This, while other patrols and incidents were taking place around town (passed out drunks, 911 calls, loud parties, etc.)

At this point, (it sounded as if)Hoboken Police were very short-handed, and were having a difficult time handling the “large crowd” at the parking garage… Both Stevens Police and the Port Authority Police were dispatched to help out. The male suspect was not found.

Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance was also very busy – with help required from Union City.

On a side note, apparently drunks living in or coming to Hoboken are some of the most physically fit people in the country, as detailed in this video report:

Is it getting worse or am I just getting old?? I’ve lived around 2nd and Hudson for about 8 years now. Walking home from the PATH around midnight the other night I am noticing that the south end of Hoboken is just PACKED to the gills every weekend night with folks that are just shitfaced. Far more than I remember than in recent years. It’s like a mini-St. Pats every weekend now it seems around there. Getting off the train there was a guy hanging is head over the tracks puking waiting to go back toward 33rd. Walking up River girls who should not be wearing dresses let alone heals could not even stay in a straight line if their life depended on it. And then there’s Lana. Just a mess and a ticking time bomb waiting to happen… Don’t get me wrong- I’ve had my fair share of drunkeness over the years and have frequented many of these “PATH bars” but now of days it just seems far more crowded and out of control. Lana was always a dump as was River Street before it, and even “The Planet” around the corner before that. When 340, Queyes, and Trinity opened up around 2004 it took them a while to ‘make it’ in that area. They were pretty much empty on the weekends for months, if not the first year. Wild Wolf opens up and they are probably already in the green. Place is loaded every night. (Good for them,… Read more »

On Saturday night I saw lines at The Shannon, McSwiggan’s and Black Bear that could almost rival Carlo’s Bakery lines. Insanity.

That’s why I drink at home. Well, that, and I also hate people.[quote comment=”198891″]On Saturday night I saw lines at The Shannon, McSwiggan’s and Black Bear that could almost rival Carlo’s Bakery lines.

I passed a vandalized jeep Saturday morning while running uptown on Clinton. The plastic windows were ripped out, door still open and interior was ruined. Sucks.

Heads up. This behavior is consistent with the approaching full moon (22nd).
