Celebrity Dogs: Scooby and Brian

10/8/2010:

Hoboken Unleashed Dog Murals brighten neighborhood

If you drive or walk along Clinton Street between 7th and 8th – you’ll notice a change at Hoboken Unleashed – as one artistic employee painted large cartoon portraits of Scooby Doo and Brian (from Family Guy).

In related news, the owner of Unleashed, Mike Stigliano – has an open lawsuit against the city of Hoboken for their nefarious handling of the Municipal Garage situation.

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

I think the gesture is wonderful, and the art is pretty good (love both cartoon dogs). I just wonder if it’s legal to keep these illustrations up.

If not, I’m pretty sure the artist can come up with something original to put on those… doors?

Hope he paid a licensing fee because that is not fair use…

Intellectual Property attorney? I read a book about Disney, and it is safe to say, if one of their characters was there, the lawyers would be on the scene by now.

Personally, I like the new additions!
Hope he paid a licensing fee because that is not fair useā€¦
Not an attorney, but I own some IP. I watch for its use in commercial publication as much as I can on my own (it is available for license, but people hate paying for it).

Usually the offender is the hired artist in these cases, not the business that hires them. However, using the art on the exterior and getting it on the internet might sound the hounds…

There are some companies that are way over the top with their IP defense (Disney, Monster, etc). Makes for awful headlines…
Intellectual Property attorney?
