Graffiti Vandals look to Obama for help

1/13/2011 Update:

More vandals glue Obama messages in Hoboken

Just updating this thread from three months ago – one person pleads to Obama: “Please give all Americans full health care coverage…”

I’m sure this dinky phone junction box outside Maxwell’s is high on the list of places to “check out” for the President.

See original graffiti tag after the jump…

10/8/2010:

Hoboken taggers think Obama handouts are the answer

Graffiti like this bugs me. Whomever wrote this sad phrase “Vote for Obama so that I can have a future!” at 14th and Madison was obviously quite mistaken.

Because people looking for government handouts as their answer for survival don’t know what they’re getting into. It’s modern-day slavery. And as much as the “Goverment Giveth” the Government can “taketh away” whenever they feel like it!

Be responsible for your own future, people!

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

While everyone is arguing about race relations, nobody has argued against socialism for the rich.

How is that any different than any other handout?

It’s not a handout. It’s the manipulation of law and policy to permit wealth transfer to a nascent oligarchy.
While everyone is arguing about race relations, nobody has argued against socialism for the rich. How is that any different than any other handout?
I think we all know that the only people who really contribute to this society are 18-49 college educated white males. Females in that same category are useful as well but not to the same degree.

If you are the type to write graffiti somewhere, well, you almost certainly don’t meet the above criteria. You’re just a moocher.

Right, because everyone who thinks President Obama is incompetent is a racist and a Republican. I guess all those pollsters are lying, then.

Who said we would be better off never electing an African American? The point was being made that President Obama is widely viewed as doing a unsatisfactory job is having a negative impact on race relations (recent polls). His performance is likely stirring latent racism in a portion of population. People fear change.

Why was that point being made? Because it was posited by HobokenDown that President Obama being elected had somehow “opened doors” for a whole segment of the population. Maybe not, based on his performance. Being able to critically view the situation with realism versus talking points has benefits.

Everyone would agree that President Bush was unpopular. How about today’s poll that showed an evenly split population on who would do a better job in office today, President Bush or President Obama?

Me? I would rather a lottery where a random non-felon citizen was selected for office. It would be a Presidential Draft. Same goes for Congress and Federal Judges.

A random selection for POTUS could work – and produce a superior result. But it could go wildly wrong. A quick visit to the DMV will illustrate.

“Mr President, empty beer cans stacked in a pyramid in the windows will make the president of Egypt ‘feel at home.'”
Right, because everyone who thinks President Obama is incompetent is a racist and a Republican. You make some good points — one flaw, however, is the rush to categorize Obama’s Presidency as a failure halfway through his first term in office. You have to admit that he inherited quite a “challenging” (to put it gently) time in our nation’s history, thanks in many ways to the utter incompetence of the 8 years under George W. Bush. Senseless wars based on “intelligence” that turned out to be lies, and generally ignoring ALL domestic issues such as a failing economy, failing school system, climate change, an environment in crisis, and a crumbling infrastructure. Aside from THAT, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? If it turns out that his Presidency is a failure, yes, it will likely (unjustly) hurt the cause of other African Americans who run for the Presidency, but AGAIN, you’re missing the point! My point, from the beginning, was that the sign (we must assume it was painted PRIOR to the election as it implores people to VOTE for Obama) is NOT necessarily asking for a handout from the government. Perhaps it was a wish that this long-standing racial barrier to the Oval Office finally be broken. I took umbrage to 411’s characterization of the graffiti. WHY CAN’T ANY OF YOU SEEM TO UNDERSTAND MY POINT? IT ISN’T THAT COMPLEX! You’ve ALL turned it into a referendum on the Obama Presidency! That wasn’t, and ISN’T, my point. Or maybe the writer could have been in the financial industry and was hoping for government bailouts.
