More Hertz Cars behaving badly: Update

12/6/2010 Update:

You know parking is bad in Hoboken when:

Even Hertz on Demand Connect Cars have to break the rules!

File under: “You can’t make this stuff up”
Also File Under: “Government Social Program Disasters”

Seriously, people. The dang Hertz on Demand cars have their own dedicated spot. Here at 11th and Hudson – there are two spots. As you can see from this picture (taken at around 12:30am today), the two spots were already filled with Hertz on Demand Cars that are designated for these spots. So what happens?

A third Hertz on Demand Connect car feels “privileged” and runs over a parking bollard to squeeze in here. Against the law and deserves a fine.

Another ridiculous Hertz moment in Hoboken

I spotted this nutty Hertz Connect parking job last night over at 10th and Willow. Not sure if the driver was just a moron, or drunk – but I wasn’t the only one who noticed this. Hoboken411 reader Josh sent some pics in as well, wondering if someone else parked in the Hertz spot: “You’d think that even if some other jerk parked in the Hertz spot, that the person renting the Hertz car who parked in front of it would have the common sense to park it elsewhere…? I forget what you call those plastic stick things that are bolted into the street (411: bollards), but how he got the car parked like that seems very odd to me. Must have been a very small car in the Hertz spot I guess…”

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

It would be nice if Gulsah from Hertz Connect came back to 411 and explained what happened on 11th Street. Are there more cars than spaces?

For that matter, it would be nice if someone from Hertz Connect would show up at a city council meeting to answer questions from the public. Ian Sacs is taking all the fire, and I don’t understand why he hasn’t called them in yet.

These cars are nothing but a nuisance to the city, and there drivers are worse. The other day i was behind a women driving one of these cars and she mus 😈 t of stopped short 50 times on 1 block ,these cars are for people who dont drive and can’t drive..Also the other i watched a bunch of jerks get into one of these cars pull around the corner while there buddy parked his regular vehicle in the spot, that car sat there all night without a ticket or tow, but yet i park 26 feet from an intersection ian sac’s sends out 1 of his goones at 6am to give me a ticket..Maybe the guy that parked the regular car in that spot was a friend of ian’s or one of his political buddies. There all corrupt anyway. 😈

The problem here isn’t Hertz, it’s the stupid Hoboken resident that parked the car like that.

The problem IS Hertz, making it easy as hell for folks who normally wouldn’t have a car to drive one.
The problem here isn’t Hertz, it’s the stupid Hoboken resident that parked the car like that.
Holy cow! You realize you essentially just described Hertz’ client base, right?
The problem IS Hertz, making it easy as hell for folks who normally wouldn’t have a car to drive one.
If this annoys people so much, do what I did. In my old garage, they had a bunch of zipcars and on more than one occasion some one parked like a jerkoff and made it impossible, or difficult to park near them. I just called zipcar and they call the last user and make them move it.

Once I got back around 1 am, and found a car that looked like it was parked by a drunk retard, it was pulled out into the ailse so far you could barely get around it, and it was parked crooked, taking up 3 spaces. I fumed a bit, but I saved it, went out, and on my way home at 3am it was still there. So I waited until 4am to call and told them that I could not get my car out of my space, and I was going to have it towed unless someone came to move it asap. Sure, I lied. Tough titty. The bastard moved it. Ha ha.

It looks like someone may have taken the designated Connect location illegally.
Probably someone was rushing and didn’t think that our cars would be returned so quickly. The only thing we can think of is that Connect driver probably didn’t want to park the car intentionally in the regular parking zone to take up Hoboken residents’ parking spot so that they can avoid parking this way. They suppose to park in the green lines. There were posts on Hoboken411 in the past about Connect cars taking up regular space and we always communicate that Connect members should always park in the designated zones. It is an unfortunate situation. We already located the member and warned for this incident. We hope that non-Connect drivers won’t take up the designated Connect spaces so that Hoboken residents who use Connect cars won’t be forced to park illegally.

You might want to consider including a ‘stupidity’ clause in your rental agreement–your member was obviously an idiot to have driven over the bollards…

On a side note–love that word…’bollards’…I have no idea why…lol
It looks like someone may have taken the designated Connect location illegally.Probably someone was rushing and didn’t think that our cars would be returned so quickly.
