Hoboken Breakfast Nuggets: 10/4/2010
Hope everyone had a nice relaxing (and dry) weekend! Some tidbits for you to digest this morning:
Hoboken floods; But disabled cars still get ticketed
The rain from the remnants of tropical storm Nicole may have been much worse in other areas of the northeast, but Hoboken still had a couple moderate flooding episodes in the usual areas. Some locations were bad enough that flooding damage occurred to some vehicles, rendering them un-drivable. However, several residents noted that despite the flooding, the Hoboken Parking Utility still issued parking tickets to the damaged cars. One local mechanic had a full inventory of cars awaiting repairs from the flooding damage.
Net-net: The city can’t fix the problems, yet still kicks you when you’re down…
Cute cat found; Resembles Charlie Chaplin!
Hoboken resident Vinnie found this lost or abandoned black & white kitten (about 3-4 months old) in the Fiore’s parking lot this past weekend. He said this “Charlie Chaplin” look-alike kitten is very playful and energetic, and would make a great companion for anyone! Email Hoboken411 if you’d like to get in touch with Vinnie.
Net-net: You can’t resist this cute kitty!
Dreary, cold & rainy start to week
Speaking of rain – the first three days of this week will not be nearly as nice as this past weekend. Generally cloudy, drizzly and depressing!
The three or four days of on & off precipitation isn’t supposed to be threatening in any way – but there is a coastal flood advisory in effect until 11pm tonight, due to astronomically high tides.
Net-net: It can always be worse.
Hoboken Redwings remain undefeated, win 41-7
The Redwings next opponent is Hudson Catholic (1-3) this Friday, October 8th, and based on their lackluster performances and weak offense – Hoboken should roll to an impressive 5-0 (unless they royally screw up!)
Net-net: Impressive. Hoboken has already won more games this season than all of last year (3-7)!
