You love comedy? Want to stay in Hoboken this weekend? Four chances for you starting tonight!
First Annual Hoboken Comedy Festival this weekend
For four days in a row, Hoboken New Jersey will become a comedy mecca with the 1st Annual Hoboken Comedy festival debuting on Thursday September 30th.
The festival which will be housed in three different locations in Hoboken hopes to claim comedy independence and show residents of this Sinatra-born town that they don’t have to cross rivers for great comedy.
The aim of the festival is to encourage comedic art and performance in Hoboken and offer entertainment close to resident’s doorsteps. It’s a celebration of the growing opportunity for great comedy in Hoboken for years to come.
This year’s festival has gathered some of the most dynamic and well-rounded talent over the course of a single weekend. Each show is an eclectic balance of styles and performances.
The festival takes place Thursday through Sunday with one show each evening featuring 4 different big name comedians per night. “Last Comic Standing” alumni Kurt Metzger and Amy Schumer headline Thursday and Friday respectively. Both have also been featured numerous times on Comedy Central. Hoboken resident and well known face from Vh1’s Best Week Ever, Chuck Nice performs Saturday at Lana Lounge also the venue for Friday’s performance. The festival is topped off Sunday night with Todd Barry a comedic veteran with credits from Conan O’Brien and Letterman, at the well known performance space Maxwell’s on 11th and Washington in Hoboken. Thursdays performance is at Room 84 at Washington and 1st.
Anyone would be hard-pressed to choose just one must-see performance, and with the level of talent and the cost of the event, you don’t have to!
Festival creator Dan Frigolette is a Hoboken resident and comedian who has fallen in love with the town. This festival is his way of giving back.
Shows are 8pm Thursday September 30th through Sunday October 3rd and feature 90 minutes of nonstop laughter with four comedians per show.
Tickets are $15 at the door and available for $10 pre-sale online at www.hobokenfestival.com.
