9/6/2010 Update:

Emily OK; still a silly mystery

In one of the oddest Hoboken-related stories in recent memory – this so-called “missing” woman Emily Grace is now apparently “safe and sound.” Not that anyone knows a darn thing about it.

They put the following note on their Facebook page:

“We are so grateful to share with you that Emily is safe. We want to thank all of you for the many kind words and prayers you have shared with our family. We understand that there may be many questions about what has happened over the last several weeks but we ask you to respect Emily’s privacy during this time of healing and transition.”

8/31/2010 Update:

Emily Grace believed to be in Florida

Hoboken Police have said that the NJ State Police have taken over the case – but Florida news channel WESH reports that “signs of missing woman Emily Grace were found in Celebration.”

“New Jersey police said they believe that Grace flew to Fort Lauderdale on Aug. 2, and no one knows why. She was caught on surveillance tape at a bank in Fort Lauderdale taking out a large sum of cash on Aug. 3, investigators said. On Tuesday, employees at a golf course in Celebration found Grace’s debit card. They also found a duffel bag with some of her clothes in it.”

They added that they’re “trying to get to the bottom of what they call a very strange case.”

With the hopes that one of the hundreds of thousands of Hoboken411 readers in the NYC tri-state area can help provide information or a lead…

Emily Grace, 45 of Hoboken, NJ: Missing

Emily Grace (formally Emily Groce/Emily Eitel) has disappeared, friends and family are worried.

What we know as of: 8/17/2010:

Emily was last seen by friends on the evening of August 1st at the Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. She left alone by taxi. She was wearing a long floral dress and sandals. We believe she spent that night at the Hotel Chelsea in NYC.

As of today, Emily is still missing. None of her friends, family or coworkers have heard from her. We are still looking for her and love her. While it is our belief that she has left the State of New Jersey, we do not know where she has traveled to. As a family we are very concerned for her safety and miss her dearly. Please keep Emily in your thoughts and prayers and help us bring her home.

If you see Emily, or have any information on where she might be, please let us know. You can email us at egstringer@aol.com, or contact the Hoboken Police Department (201)420-2113, or the New Jersey State Police – Missing Persons Unit at (609)915-0495 or missingp@gw.njsp.org.

The National Crime Information Center Number for Emily’s case is M049016421.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.

I’m surprised they haven’t provided a reason. Pretty damn rude on the part of this woman’s family and friends…

Maybe next time she flies off the handle perhaps they should consider hiring a PRIVATE investigator who can keep everything PRIVATE. That way the rest of the world need not be concerned with this woman and her nonsense.

Wait. You are publicly criticizing them for not publicly announcing something that you think should have been kept private?

This was not a balloon boy episode here. Disappearing may have been a bad move on EG’s part, but how can people fault the family for trying to find her? Is this public really that callous to harsh on them for that??? 😯 [quote comment=”197064″]I’m surprised they haven’t provided a reason. Maybe a lack of Cocoa Puffs. Too bad all the police resources were wasted but I guess that was the only way to find out she was ok. If she just needed her space leave a note, so send her the bill. Its been done before.

Possible she just wanted to be left alone? Ever have one of those moments where you just want to get away from it all no strings attached?

I think this was just one big stunt for attention. Pure and simple. The more we comment, the more we feed into her bullshit.
