Moran’s gets a summons

Never understood this law that “people are not allowed in one hour before bar closing”.

Moran’s got a summons tonight for letting patrons in after 2am. What’s the big deal, as long as the place is cleared out by 3am? Who does it protect? Bar owners? I can imagine it’s kinda cool to say “it’s against the law”, but what if you want to let a friend or reputable regular in? Catch-22 I suppose.

It’s also against the law to “buy back” a customer but bars still do it. There’s a 100 of these dumb ordinances.

The law was passed as a result of complaints from residents who found objectionable the numbers of drunken idiots still barhopping after 2am, moving from one establishment to the next while screaming, screeching and overturning garbage cans. If late-night revelers could conduct themselves in a relatively civilized manner, this law would not have been passed. Sorry.

I think why the law is there is to stop a flood of people from hitting the streets at 3am. When people who don’t know the law leave a bar at 2am to go somewhere else, they’re forced to go home. I agree it’s a ridiculous law.
