Cheap drinks on Washington Street?

8/5/2010:

Price drops on the Avenue an uncommon treat

We all know the best way to be economical when it comes to commercial beverages is to either buy in bulk, or shop at the supermarket and use coupons.

But on a stifling hot and humid day like today, you can’t wheel a pallet of ice-cold Gatorade around with you – it’d kind of defeat the purpose. But when you do need a “convenient” beverage, you’re more than likely going to pay a lot more than supermarket prices – especially on Washington Street.

Well, the owner of Hoboken Daily News at 5th and Washington said he lowered prices of his drinks, and claims to have the best prices in the area. That guy is always happy when I shop there, and everyone in the neighborhood has a good rapport with him. So stop in and say hello!

One of the main two guys is really nice but the other is a sourpuss who never says hello or anything else for that matter.

Still do business with them even after the opening of 7/11 across the street. Had a $500.00 winning lottery ticket there too. Nice people too.

They are some of the nicest people in there. I remember buying a newspaper. I asked for a bag. I didn’t want to get print all over my clothes. I thanked them, because people don’t usually ask for bags when they purchase newspapers. My Thank You was met with a reply of “not thank you my duty” I never forgot that act of kindness, respect and courtesy.
