Platform not without Soul

4/15/2010 Update:

Platform now open at 100 Bloomfield

“The retail store formerly known as Platform Soul” reopened in the last week or two over at 100 Bloomfield Street. More than just shoes, they now have bags, apparel and jewelry as well.

Since I’m not a lady, I have no idea whether the products are a good value or of acceptable quality (owner Desiree is not very good with email). But they’re proud that most of the interior decorations are “earthy” recycled materials (including a wall of live plants). See photo gallery below to get a peek inside.

3/1/2010 Update:

Is downtown really a better retail location?

Hoboken411 reader Heidi sent in this tip that Platform Soul Shoes at 716 Washington (who’s sister store is Air Studios at 55 First Street) – is moving into the old Choice Properties location (100 Bloomfield Street) across the street from Buskers.

Also – the name is apparently changing to just “Platform.”

I’m assuming they moved downtown because the rent was cheaper? But don’t uptown residents have a bit more “buying power?”

Description – Womens shoes moved from midtown to downtown March 2010.
Services – Michael Kors, Chloe, specialty sneakers from Puma.
Address – 716 Washington 100 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Web – http://www.platformboutique.com
Telephone – 201-963-6555

Stopped in the new location last night on my way home from a condo meeting. Great clothes but insanely overpriced They are clothes that another poster mentioned you could find in Bella Ro,Town House 620 etc.and for alot cheaper. I wish them the best in their new location. Personally I don’t see them surviving.

I saw baby clothes in the window, so I checked it out. Ok they were organic, but $32 for a t-shirt when a child grows so fast, I don’t think so.

Ridiculously over priced. If you are looking for nice trendy clothes at reasonable prices check out Bella Ro or TownHouse620 both are awesome!

I was told that Platform Soul and Air Studios were the same owners and I refuse to shop at either store. I’ve gone to both their locations on several occasions and I have always found the salespeople to be very pushy and they would also show me items that were a lot higher than what I told them I would spend. I noticed a new store on 1st and Bloomfield last weekend and as I was about to walk in, I saw the Platform sign so I didn’t go in.
