Fabco Shoes: Yep, Starbucks!

5/12/2008 Update:
It’s true! At least one of the two rumored Starbucks Coffee Shops are coming… this one replacing the doomed Fabco Shoes:
See Fabco before it’s “dooming” after the jump…
4/21/2008:
Are they just doomed, or remodeling? Here’s what one reader had to say…
“I noticed 2 trucks from Fabco cleaning out the store at 314 Washington Street - all the stock and fixtures are gone. Maybe file this under “No Big Loss”, but it looks like they may be doomed.“
Hey, I bought my first pair of Totes snow boots there this past winter (never used them once).. I actually tried them on yesterday before I put them in storage and realized the size 13 boots I have were obviously wrong. They were like size 18! Next winter I’ll have to wear six pairs of socks to use them. Ugh. Too late to return them now!

Description - Super cheap shoe store
Address - 314 Washington St, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Telephone - 201-239-9877

I’m fine with them opening when they do, I’m sure they would welcome your suggestions though.

Just a few weeks ago it was Fabco, now it’s a Starbucks. Wow, those are some good contractors! Too bad every new business can’t open this quick. Somebody must have been paid off.

Starbucks is busy shutting 600 outlets this year. Maybe Hoboken is getting some “previously-owned” Starbucks equipment in order to open quick. With the rent they’re paying, I’m sure they want to take your Grande Soy Latte with a shot of caramel order ASAP!

I have little doubt those 600 stores are the underperforming stores on a list of 4,000. Considering that our Starbucks is busy 24/7, I have little reason to think that the Fabco one will be any slower.

Here is the list of stores that are closing: http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/USStoreClosureInfo.pdf
A bunch are closing by my office in NYC, but none in Hoboken.

I wish the list was a lot longer. Die, Starbucks, Die.

Sort of on topic- I kind of liked fabco. I got at least 4 pairs of really cute and really cheap shoes there. I often get compliments on the boots especially!!
I will miss the store.
Let the bashing begin.

Does anyone know what happened to Emack & Bolio’s on Washington bet. 5th & 6th? I just noticed the other day that it was closed. So many businesses are closing on Washington. It’s sad.

Unfortunately, they melted and went bye-bye.

Read the Emack & Bolio thread. it’s all there. basically, the owner’s business model is the Jesus model - he’s free falling from a building, he’s at the tenth floor and hasn’t opened his shoot because he’s waiting for Jesus to bail him out. It’s a waiting game, and as of Aug 1, he’s paid $24,000 in rent while the store has been closed. Whadda maroon.
