Hoboken Rhythm & Blues with a New Orleans Twist

Hoboken resident and musician John Keim and The Gin Mill Kings will be performing with Jesse Thomas tonight at Elysian Cafe (10th and Washington). Show will begin after 10pm (once dinner service is completed.)

“Jesse Thomas is an artist who was brought up in an era when Crescent City R&B was at the peak of its popularity. Born, off Rampart Street, where “the music flowed day and night,” Jesse’s senses were assailed by the vibrancy of its rich musical heritage.

The Gin Mill Kings provide fine foot stompin’ live music and entertainment that knocks your socks. Drummer Ron Metz lays down some seriously solid grooves on the skins while John Keim tears up the melodic keys. Finally, Lawrence Ochs fills in fanciful rhythms on the electric geetar, rippin’ and smokin’ up the neck.”

No cover charge at the show.

Here’s a sample of a classic Staple Singers song “I’ll Take You There,” which the Gin Mill Kings covered at Two Boots in Brooklyn back in April of this year:
