Hoboken Cottage Surprise!

7/14/2010:

You may NOT want to see this!

A Hoboken411 reader had a long day of work yesterday, and simply wanted to order some Chinese food from Hoboken Cottage at 516 Washington Street, and chillax on the couch and catch up on the DVR. Sounds like a normal weekday night in Hoboken, right?

What he discovered (after eating much of his meal), was a giant unappetizing surprise. So much so, that I cannot even display this on the home page. You need to see the images after the jump.

If you have a weak stomach, or are about to eat lunch – I’d recommend checking it out later. Made me queasy too!

See the Hoboken Cottage “Surprise” after the jump!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Hoboken Cottage Cockroach FREE with any entree!

Will you order from there again?

I guess this bugs a lot of you but the fact is there is really no such thing as a restaurant without roaches (or mice for that matter). But enjoy dinner and try to put the insect aside.

On the topic of pests in our local eateries….Was in the back room at Arthur’s the other evening enjoying my burger and noticed a large RAT scurrying on the black and white checkered floor. The waitress noticed my husbands uneasiness and came over to us to ask if everything was ok, we remained calm and told her what we saw and stated it was not a big deal, no worries. She then thanked us for being so calm about it, because she said most people aren’t. I guess this is a common sighting in Arthur’s then?!?

I used to eat there all the time, and a few years ago I started getting sick EVERY time I ate their food. Now I know why.

I have received a bunch of recommendations for Confucius near the Newport Mall for delivery. They charge an extra $5 for Hoboken, but everyone tells me it is worth it. I might finally try next week. We tried Itsana, and it is not bad but it is not good either. On the topic, I am also skittish on Zack’s. I found a used bandaid in my rice one time years ago. I would still go, but it did freak me out for a while. My wife does not love the place (I think it is okay), so we just don’t go. And my buddy who bartended there for years has been gone for a while. I would go back, but there is no reason to. You cannot expect any place to be 100%, but you can try to limit your exposure, eh? Has anyone else spent time in a kitchen? It’s brutal. Restaurants… everything is against you, between the food exposure, the shitty building, dumb employees and the slobs that eat at the place. It’s a tough thing to get right. I do like the idea of the grading system they are going to use in NYC, but I wonder how useful it will be. And in Hoboken, land of corruption… does it stand a chance? I don’t know anything about the inspectors in town.
Precious is nasty too?!!! Oh, please say it isn’t so, I just ate there a week ago. ILK!
Ok, it is NOT nasty. If we all have eaten there plenty of times, with no cigarette or cockroach tales, then let’s put it in the “SAFE” zone.
Precious is nasty too?!!! Oh, please say it isn’t so, I just ate there a week ago. ILK!
