Fowad: Bloom Spa

THREAD CLOSED:

With Fowad gone, and new spa finally opening it’s doors – you can find the Bloom Spa entry here. This thread is closed.

Bloom Spa gets a facelift

With more than four weeks gone by since my last OCD Bloom Spa update – I figured I’d help the “shorties” out there – and show you all what’s behind that wooden wall in front of the upcoming nail salon / happy ending spa!

As you can see – it’s just a re-designed storefront – nothing that will make you wet yourself.

Ahh, the benefits of being a giant mountain man with paws the size of frying pans!

11/20/2008 Update:

Stop work order stresses out Bloom Spa owners

Haha! I can’t stop with the Bloom Spa updates!

This week – they received a stop work order for some kind of construction violation. I can only assume they’re not quite too “happy.”

11/13/2008 Update:

Bloom Spa moving along…

I couldn’t resist… One more update for the old Fowad discount clothing store, which is going to be “Bloom Spa” when they re-open.

Snapped this picture earlier in the week – you can see the great progress they’re making. One worker on scene gave the usual canned response: “A couple months.”

9/16/2008 Update:

This may be the last update (I lied) for the old Fowad, as they’ve finally received a name: BLOOM SPA.

Next update once they open – will be a brand-spanking new entry to the directory – and a giant “welcome to Hoboken” sign!

6/18/2008 Update:

Cue drum roll…..

The doomed Fowad will become: A nail salon and spa!

Being six doors down, what will poor Shining Nails do?

5/17/2008 Update:

Hoboken411 reader Dan mentioned to me yesterday that Fowad is finally saying farewell, with a sign in the window “FOWAD is closed, thanks for shopping here” as they were packing up the store.

Took long enough, right? Anyone care to guess what’s will be moving into that large space?

5/29/2007 Update:

As people have already mentioned, Fowad is for rent. Cost? $200,000 per year, or $16,666 per month.

12/16/2006:

I have to admit, Fowad is one of those places in Hoboken I never felt like going in. With the mangled banner sign, and heaps of random stuff on racks, it pretty much gave me strong anxiety.

However, last week I noticed the upgraded and more aesthetically pleasing awning Fowad finally put up, and it piqued my interest. It turns out that this is the type of store that sells a huge range of miscellaneous designer sample clothing. Like his original store in the city on 93rd & Broadway, they get a constant daily supply of new merchandise from many sources.

I was looking for a “cheap and warm” jacket I can abuse this winter while I roam the streets of Hoboken. I found just what I was looking for. A “phat” kind of waterproof down coat for $25 bucks! Yeah, it may not necessarily be my style, but it was warm as hell and had tons of pockets. A perfect “work coat”.

Fowad has something for everyone. No matter what your size, they have something for you. Suits, cashmere coats, jackets, colleges-you-never-went-to sweatshirts and more! You may need to go back several times to check their ever-rotating inventory, but eventually you’ll find something you like.

Description – Discount clothing store.
Address – 402 Washington St, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Telephone – 201-222-0075

(older pictures) Gotta love that sign:
