Power outage blacks out several Hoboken blocks

At around 9:40pm tonight, a power outage affected many blocks west of Garden and North of First Street in Hoboken. It was believed at one point that work being performed by PSE&G near 2nd and Willow could have been the culprit, however the actual cause is unknown at this point.

Hoboken Police was out in force patrolling the area in both marked and unmarked cars guarding against any blackout mischief.

Power was restored shortly after 11pm.

Luckily last night was a cool night. the same incident during a heat index of 105 could be deadly.

There appeared to be a line down on second street between Clinton and Grand, though you couldn’t tell what brought it down. PSEG had gotten there and began working on it by 10:25, so props to them on a pretty fast response.

I live at Adams Square and the entire building went out at about 9:45pm. Just the right side of Adams St was out and the opposite side of the street and all of Grand Street were fine. Very scary since no one knew about it at the police station when I called at 9:55pm. We called our management co who runs the building and they really couldn’t do anything. Lights went back on about 11:15pm. Has happened in Hoboken a few times in the past 5 years.

What were you expecting the police or management company to do?[quote comment=”194084″]I live at Adams Square and the entire building went out at about 9:45pm.
