Macy’s Fireworks from the Yankee Ferry!

7/2/2010 Update:

Reminder: One of the most unique ways to watch Sunday’s Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular on the Hudson – is at the historic Yankee Ferry!

Victoria tells us about the folks from Integrity House who were helping get the boat it tip top shape today:

Integrity House fellas deckhands for a day

“These blokes are parolees whom have joined the wonderful program called “Integrity House”. They have come to help Yankee get her decks swabbed and port holes polished up in time for the big SALEabration July 3rd and 4th, which helps them with support to their educational endeavors, as well as helping all of society be rid of the harmful effects of drugs and crime.

Integrity House was started in 1968 by a parol officer who noticed most of the men went right back into prison after being set free, so he and his wife began taking them in, under their own wings and making home a part of their day, which made for 100% success in a graceful return to society. They have grown now to having a school and wonderful living and work training, and the highest percent of success. (read in the printouts below, at the bottom, a blurb about Integrity House)

Richard and I support Integrity House however we can. We are offering Yankee to them for a wonderful boutique sale of 15 local artists, as well as the fireworks, fabulous food and photos with the Statue of Liberty (old wooden cutout). It is going to be a wonderful fundraiser for a cause that helps us all!”

6/28/2010:

Yankee Ferryboat July 4th Festivities Benefit Integrity House

Fireworks Viewing and Arts & Boutique Sale aboard Historic Vessel, Yankee Ferry

Integrity House, a nationally recognized substance abuse rehabilitation center with locations in Newark and Secaucus, announces two exciting events to take place July 4th weekend aboard the historic Yankee Ferry in Hoboken, New Jersey. Proceeds from the events will benefit Integrity House’s community outreach programs and the fight against substance abuse. The weekend will present an Arts & Boutique Sale and Yankee Ferry Fireworks Event, providing a magnificent view of the legendary Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular.

“We are thrilled to announce these new Independence Day celebrations, which are possible due to the generosity of Yankee Ferry owners, the world renowned artists Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs. For years the MacKenzie-Childs have supported the efforts of Integrity House’s Gala Committee and now are coordinating both July 4th events with them” said David Kerr, Founder and President of Integrity House. “We anticipate a wonderful showing, an unforgettable weekend for all! We are truly grateful for the necessary funding we receive through our charitable events, which help create a remarkable, lasting impact on Integrity House’s continued success.”

The Arts & Boutique Sale will take place on Saturday, July 3rd, and Sunday, July 4th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a $10 entry fee to benefit Integrity House. Once aboard, shoppers can browse numerous arts, jewelry and boutique vendors displaying their unique designs. In addition to Victoria & Richard Emprise, the Collections of Victoria & Richard MacKenzie-Childs, vendors include internationally recognized artist Phillipe Valy, Rotating Galleries, John Masi, Draped in Elegance, Beanie Babies Galore, Book Nook and others. During the sale, attendees are invited to purchase a range of beverages and lite fare and to make a souvenir photo in the hand-painted Statue of Liberty cutout.

Built in 1907 as a luxury steam ferry, Yankee is now the oldest floating vessel in the Northeast. Arts & Boutique Sale attendees will have the opportunity to tour Yankee Ferry and the MacKenzie-Childs’ living quarters, enjoying a rare and authentic glimpse of American history, for a $10 charge.

A perfect conclusion to the weekend festivities, Yankee Ferry will offer a front-row viewing of the stunning Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular on July 4th at 9:20 p.m. For $50, guests of all ages can board the Ferry starting at 7:00 p.m.

Those interested are encouraged to purchase tickets ASAP, as tickets are limited.

WT is a character. I don’t always understand or care what he’s rambling on about, but it’s entertaining often enough.

When you consider the fact that Wiskey Tango Foxtrot = WTF. it sums up nicely exactly what happens when I read most of his comments. WTF?
I image wiskeytango1 as Cotton Hill from King of the Hill whenever I read his comments.
homeworld and easy e aka ring of fire/jcash fan..Its an opinion as you have yours. When
you disagree it’s rambling ..homey judging from your silly icon you must be a beauty. It was macys decision where they place the firework barge..Not Dawn. To renarate,my comment was in the past there was never much ado over the fireworks prior to this year.to equate the event with St Paddys day ment the precaution of unruley crowds..Also why is Hoboken the only town haveing meters enforced today according to the journal?
Its a case of mind over matter .The powers that are don’t mind and you dont matter.I think your leader has control over that..one..This was never before on a three day weekend with city hall closed. 🙄
WT is a character. Since it’s inception in the 80’s the fireworks were never a problem, issue aka circus. Never
problergaded signs posted along Hudson washington shipyard side streets to restrict local
residents from parking for which they pay 25 or more per year as well as taxpayers…Now
Princess yetel has made the 4th St Paddys day two…Twas better when it was on bloombergs side of the east river..To have adults get wired up standing on the piers saying hoo ahhhh wooooo woww is a joke… One either has to pull out for the weekend
or button up at home and turn on the A/C…Lots of tows lots of revenue summons all because innocent people can’t park as its their right…Just an opinion… 🙄

WT,

You might think that the way you write makes you all authentic and old school cool. It just makes you hard to read.

I doubt Zimmer has the pull to get the fireworks here, that call was way above her paygrade.

Like any politician she will try to piggyback ride this, but she has no control.
Since it’s inception in the 80’s the fireworks were never a problem, issue aka circus. Never

Wow. Just absolutely crazy. Hoboken actually gets the opportunity to see one of the best fireworks displays in the WORLD with a front row seat, and this guy is complaining. Last year the 4th was great, and I’m not one to like out-of-towners taking over this city. This is nothing like St. Patrick’s day, that is the most disgusting celebration of nothing but drinking. The 4th is actually a meaningful celebration, with some beautiful fireworks that we see for free – all you get at the end of St. Patrick’s is garbage and puke.
forgot to mention…the bistro will charge 100 a head just to sit on the deck and watch

homeworld and 333..depends on your age …fireworks are cute for kids but if you want
fire works sign up and go to the mid east..those road side bombs are better…Since the
mid 80’s they never had to detour or close streets to accomadate the masses..Never had that in 2005…Never had vendors in the area..btw bull run where have you been all those years? You have people coming in from the shore areas that have to show id like it was an occupied eastern europian country.. Also the queen is having the meters envorced.
What a lousy way to bring in revenue.. Town is broke ,overtime, and the homeowners
dont bitch and moan…Macys parade is good enough..even they are leaving hoboken so more shims can come in and own a condo..
Wow. Just absolutely crazy.
