6/17/2010:

Cake Boss Buddy is one busy body!

Hey – I don’t watch Cake Boss, nor do I shop at Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop.

However, many of you will be interested in these upcoming Cake Boss related events in Hoboken and throughout New Jersey:

Friday, June 18th: Cupcake Giveaway

TLC and Carlo’s Bakery will be down at the PATH station on Friday handing out over 1,000 free mini Carlo’s Cupcake tasters. Not sure if they’re cleaning out old cake batter inventory – or trying to boost ratings.

Saturday, June 19th: Cake Boss Block Party

Right in front of City Hall – gone are the days of angry protests against exorbitant tax increases. Everyone is perfectly OK with having less money in their checking accounts it seems – because now they can easily forget about the monetary pain with honorary Buddy Valastro events instead!

The Cake Boss block party will run from 10am to 2pm – and consist of everything cake-related. Decorating stations, family meet & greets, and you can even get a chance to drench Buddy himself in a carnival-style dunk tank. And for those who love seeing themselves on TV – TLC will be filming this event. Ladies: bust out your low-cut shirts and polish off your spray-tans if you want a better chance of avoiding the cutting room floor!

This event is to mark Carlo’s 100th Anniverary in Hoboken, NJ – as well as the honorary re-naming of the corner of Newark and Washington to “Carlo’s Bakery Way.”

November 22nd: Bakin’ with the Boss Tour

And if you haven’t suffered a Cake Boss aneurysm at this point – go over the top and book your tickets for an event at the NJ Performing Arts Center over in Newark around Thanksgiving time.

“America’s favorite baker, Buddy Valastro, returns to Jersey for the final stop on The Bakin’ with the Boss Tour, heading nine miles west of Hoboken to NJPAC’s Prudential Hall stage on November 22, 2010 at 7:30pm. Tickets, ranging in price from $18 to $42, go on-sale Friday, June 18, 2010 at noon, and may be purchased by telephone at 1-888-GO-NJPAC (1-888-466-5722), at the NJPAC Box Office at One Center Street in downtown Newark, or by visiting the NJPAC website at www.njpac.org.

In this live interactive event, the baker and star of TLC’s “Cake Boss” will share the stories behind his hit TV series and his colorful Italian family, answer audience questions, and give a live demonstration of the techniques that have made him one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the nation. Buddy will even invite audience members to join the fun on stage. The whole family is invited for a night of “bakin’ with the boss” one will not soon forget.

One of the centerpiece shows of the TLC network, a third season of “Cake Boss” debuted May 31st on TLC. Viewers continue to celebrate the mouthwatering desserts and not-to-be-missed Valastro family moments occurring in bustling Hoboken, NJ, home of Carlo’s Bakery, celebrating it’s 100th anniversary this summer. On November 2nd, Free Press (Simon & Schuster) will publish Buddy’s first book, “Cake Boss: The Stories and Recipes.” In the book, Buddy shares recipes and his familiy’s inspiring, fascinating, and poignant life story.”

Tickets for this event go on sale June 18, 2010 at 12pm

Buddy is getting very close to jumping the shark. I guess you cannot blame him for trying to maximize his 15 minutes of fame, but my prediction is within 2 years you will not have to wait on line at Carlos anymore. His act is getting old…. does anyone else agree?

      Oh geez, I totally agree.

So Frank Sinatra gets a street named after him, obviously that makes sense- no explanation necessary.

This baking dude gets a street? Wow, Hoboken will do anything to cash in on this momentary phenom. Will be embarrassing a few years down the road when nobody cares about this dude.

You don’t even have to be that talented or have done anything remarkable and lasting to get a street named after you I guess. In this case I think 7-11 should get a street, and CVS too- don’t forget Cold Stone Creamery, they should get one as well.[quote comment=”193705″]Buddy is getting very close to jumping the shark. The scriptures are hardly worth mentioning in this case, though I will point out that they provide many people with blind ammunition for conflict – so bravo… way to put them to work for you… il papa sarebbe fiero di voi[quote comment=”193734″]333 the scriptures tell us that envy jealousy is a sin..If you can bake ask buddy jr for a job

  3. Curtishly says:

Good point with those angry protesters. Where are they now? Why so mum?

Wait till the county taxes are done and the tax bill for Hoboken is even bigger next quarter. Dawn seems to be a pushover these days.

333 YOUR opinion is well taken .(LA TOUNG NON HA ALCUNA OSSA MA PUO` LOTTI DI SPALLE..GELOSIA E`UNA MATAITIA.. If that other italian bakery on 11th and washington was better they would have been on TLC. If you grew up with Buddy Sr
you would know how hard he worked and after three daughters he was blessed with one
son that promised some day they would be on top..Jr worked hard as well as the girls
Its a familia thing…A tip of the hat to the Valastro Family.. 😳

      Oopsie, wiskeytango1!

Giorgio is wonderful. So wonderful, in fact, that I got wind from a long-timer of Giorgio having been asked to star in an obnoxious episode of The Cake Boss. Something about a cake-off.

Giorgio said “no, thanks”. Probably can’t stand fame/crap-TV whorism as much as I can’t. 333’s The Pope has nothing to do with this..He has enough on his plate..The nature of my post is that wheel of karma is a bitch..Nothing to do with religion, more than commen sense and logic.. Maybe before your time Ferrarias on Broom St downtown nyc was the best. One thing is sure the prices are higher but you get what you pay for. If not for tlc would not be so crowded with long lines..free advertisement does wonders plus you get paid.

I don’t understand why people are so pissy about Buddy. Frankly, I’m happy for the store for getting national recognition. I’ve only been to the store a few times before the show started (I am not a fan of Italian pastries), but I still think it’s great that he has his own show. And I watch it. Yes, a lot of it looks staged, but what reality show isn’t staged??? I love seeing Hoboken on TV! It seems to me that the people who gripe about how Carlos cakes are bad, and question why he should on TV are just jealous.

    • camel2 says:

The television show wasn’t his idea, it was someone else’s brainchild.[quote comment=”193751″]I don’t understand why people are so pissy about Buddy. Speaking of Italian pastries in Hoboken…

I’m not Italian (well maybe there was some Italian blood back 1000 years ago…) but I love having pizzelle in December and I couldn’t find any in Hoboken. Ok I’ve never seen them in a story anywhere, always had them at friends houses, made by their grandmas.

Anyone know where I could get them?

  10. midtownauthentic says:

I’d bet anything that come halloween they will sell a cake boss costume nationally.
