1846 “First” Hoboken baseball game re-enacted

Don’t miss the big celebration of baseball’s first organized game, on Saturday, June 19th, at 1pm, at Stevens’ Dobbelaar Baseball field.

Two teams of players will re-create the famous first ever recorded game played in 1846 on this date at Hoboken’s Elysian Fields. The match will be played barehanded, by 1970s rules, as a competitive match. The event is free, hotdogs, t-shirts and caps will be available for purchase to commemorate the day.

Expecting 1846 prices might be a little off base but the event should be a real hit and everyone should have a ball before they head home. This goes to show that Michael Jackson wasn’t so original, people were wearing one glove 150 years ago.

Are the hot dog prices going to be 1846 prices?

No gloves or mitts? That’s gonna sting. I tip my cap to the bravery of these fine men.
