Pedestrian Struck in front of City Hall

6/3/2010:

1:22am Update: The Maryland car was a red Nissan Xterra – and the female driver was arrested after failing a field sobriety check.

Man hit by car – injured badly

About 10 minutes in the past, a man was struck by a car right in front of City Hall (or more notably – Carlo’s Bakery).

The car that hit him had Maryland plates: 24093M2, but was not a hit and run. The cause of the accident (jaywalking or reckless driving) is not known at this moment. Hoboken PD urgently requested ambulatory assistance, and Weehawken sent their rig, as well as a Advanced Life Support rig from Jersey City.

Ironically, tonight’s city council meeting contained much conversation about pedestrian safety and increased traffic as a result of closing Sinatra Drive on Sundays…

2 wrongs

drunk driver – reckless
jay walker – that’s the middle of the street, not a crosswalk

I jay walk on my commute into Manhattan, everyday. I accept the risks. Hope the guy recovers, doesn’t sound good.

I hope the guy is okay. He might not have stood a chance, but remember when the sun goes down in this town and you are on foot, assume they are going to run you over. It’s freaking chaos out there. I nearly got run over on Hudson and 4th last week in broad daylight, and the jackhole had balls to swing his door open and start yelling at me.

I hope the victim turns out alright.

I really have no respect for drinkers or texters behind a wheel.

“Don’t Drink and Drive” just didn’t stick, I guess?

Wonderful.
