Philly Bar Mulligan’s has cheap beer during finals

I’m not going to kid any of you – I have no interest in Hockey whatsoever – but Hoboken411 reader Furey sort of does – only because he loves anything with the word “Philadelphia” in it. He runs a couple clubs for fans of the City of Brotherly Love downtown, and says:

“I figure you may want to make a post about the Stanley Cup Finals (and a poll on who will win, etc). It’s the first appearance to the Stanley Cup since 1997 for the Flyers (we were swept by the Red Wings that year).

Just getting the word out that Philadelphia Eagles & Philadelphia Phillies Clubs will be inviting all the Philadelphia Flyers fans in Hoboken to down to Mulligan’s to cheer on the Broad Street Bullies. $2 pints of Bud Light and $2.50 pints of Yuengling at Mulligan’s for Flyers (or Blackhawks, for that matter) fans starting at 8pm, and running during each game of the finals.”

Congrats to the Chicago Blackhawks on their first win since 1961!

It was an excellent series, and some of the best hockey I have watched in years. I hope it brings more fans into hockey around Chicago or Philadelphia who may have been on the sidelines.

Amazing crowd at Mulligan’s tonightm we had about 50 Flyers fans in the bar. Even some Blackhawks fans sprinkled in there too. Some great hockey being played. Best of 3 series now…

It’s nice that they’ve got a gathering of philly fans at Mulligans, but I really don’t like that place. The last few times I’ve been in there, the bartenders could care less about the game and therefore won’t turn on the audio from the game in the main room.

The last time I was there, the bar had about 8 people in the bar before a flyers game, 6 of them were there for the game. One of them asked the bartender to put the game audio on, but was told no. There were only 2 other people in the bar, but they like to stick you in the back room where, yes they have a lot of big tvs, but it feels like i’m in someone’s basement. It’s just got a very cold ugly feel about it… nasty fluorescent lights, and generally not a place I wanna be when I’m trying to get out of the house. And in the winter when you’re trying to watch football, it can get cold in there.

I’m looking for somewhere else to watch sports from now on.

If you were there tonight, we had the game on in the main room and the audio, too. Sorry you had a bad experience on Monday. If you have any issues email me at philly2hobken at gmail.com and I can address them with the owner.[quote comment=”193116″]It’s nice that they’ve got a gathering of philly fans at Mulligans, but I really don’t like that place. I am unsure for whom I should cheer. The the evil Blackhawks, the archrival of my beloved Redwings; the Blackhawks, victors over the annoying Sharks; or, er, Philly.

To be honorable like Gordie Howe or be fully of “animosity” like Bob Probert. Either way, I’ll watch in my Detroit jersey.
