No. Because here’s the deal: there is an inordinate amount of people (young women, actually) who for some reason feel that because they have the urge to sing, they’re talented enough to do so. They’re not. That is a fact. Let’s consider some examples: Paris Hilton. Heidi Montag. That leather faced c*nt from Real Housewives of NY. And the majority of people who’ve ever appeared on American Idol. There are people who are genuinely talented and who are genuinely passionate about music: they work exceptionally hard to hone their craft, practicing and refining their technique. And they don’t do it for press, they don’t do it for the roar of the crowd – they do it because they genuinely love music.

A tart with a couple of goon DJs showing up and declaring herself a musician (much less an artist) is virtually the same thing as an idiot with a George Foreman grill sauntering into a high end restaurant and declaring himself a chef. It’s a slap in the face to people who take their craft seriously – for people whose music is their life. It’s not just a hobby, it’s not just a phase they’re going through: 30, 40 years from now they’ll still be making music.

Good luck to her if she’s serious.

“No amount of electronics will help you” – this is true. But it hasn’t stopped many, many people (including some professionals) from producing and subsequently releasing music.

Anyone can slap together a single, autotune, “remix” the shit out of it and throw it up on iTunes. But it’s nice to have a hobby and she’s putting herself out there, so good luck.

When my son was in a band he went to a singing teacher to help him with background singing. The teacher told him “no amount of electronics will help you”.[quote comment=”192543″]Anyone can slap together a single, autotune, “remix” the shit out of it and throw it up on iTunes.
