New Starbucks coffee lids are flawed

5/18/2010:

A sort-of big deal for regular Starbucks coffee drinkers

Far from breaking news on a global scale, but for frequent drinkers of Starbucks Coffee – this is annoying enough to mention.

While I used to be very anti-Starbucks, I cannot complain about high-octane coffee for under $2 bucks a cup. And something I’m sure many Starbucks customers have noticed of late is: the new coffee cup lids leak and drip all over the place.

If you pay attention, you’ll notice the new lids are nice and smooth on the lips, but must be made with a lesser plastic – as the coffee leaks from the top – near the seam of the cup itself.

This can be frustrating, as it drips all over your hand. And if you’re astute enough to arrange the seam opposite to your fingers, you might get lucky – but still run a high risk of it dripping on your clothes while walking.

If you are sick of these lids, as I am – You can contact the District Manager Michael Lawniczak at mlawnicz@starbucks.com – or submit your suggestion at www.mystarbucksidea.force.com

👿 These LIDS ARE THE WORST

for those of you who drink starbucks regularly, like me, do you think the lids are getting worse (even since this post on H411 in may). i get coffee at starbucks practically everyday and i have noticed the crappy lid situtation has been going on for awhile – however this is the 3rd time this week that my lid failed and dripped droplets of coffee on my shirt….. (i go to the downtown starbucks) – is it any better at midtown or uptown?

I have noticed what H411 is talking about for years and he is really right about this. And if you get half a day out of a venti coffee the entire rim will probably be soggy by the time you’re through with it no matter what evasive action you take with the paper cup. Well Getz and midtown you’re both right. You can either buy your own longterm Thermos or use a styrofoam Dunkin Donuts cup which you can use over and over because it won’t biodegrade for a thousand years.

Try this on for size: venti coffee, three espresso add-shots, take a slug when you need it. I can ride that caffeine buzz like a wild bronco. It’s like rocket fuel.

Hope you got your WC candle before the crave, no I mean craze caught on and they sold out.
Half a day? I get half-an-hour, tops.

Hahaha, plywood… I have two candles right now, sitting in two zip-lock bags (double bagged to contain the crave smell). One is a gift and one is for a keepsake. I also purchased the WC cookbook for good measure.

Generally, I have been doing a single grande bold at work in the afternoon. The Starbucks near work is out-of-control busy. I actually prefer just having a triple espresso, but lately the wait is too long. Weekends, though, and some weekday evenings, I will do the espresso. I do not get the boost any longer, or at least not like I use to. Over-exposure from a young age in an Italian household; I thought drinking 8-10 cups of coffee after dinner was normal…
Try this on for size: venti coffee, three espresso add-shots, take a slug when you need it. I drink black, no sugar. Starbucks has the right acidity and the right bitterness. DD is way too mild for my taste.
Dunkin Donuts lids don’t leak, make the move!
Buy this. If you drink as much coffee as I do, it pays for itself in about four months at Starbucks (two coffees a day, $0.10 per coffee).
