Hoboken Relay for Life 2010
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 22nd – from 11am to 11pm! Over at Pier A Park.
Relay For Life – on a mission to cure cancer
“Relay For Life is a fun-filled event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, we create awareness and raise money through donations to aide the American Cancer Society in its mission to find a cure, assist those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back.
During Hoboken’s Relay For Life, teams of people gather at Pier A Park in Hoboken and take turns walking laps. The premise is to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. BUT Relay is much more than a walk. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. During the event, we honor survivors during the morning Survivors Lap and remember those we have lost during the beautiful Luminaria Ceremony at dusk.
Hoboken’s family-friendly event boasts a variety of activities, including clowns, a water-balloon toss, team tug of war, costume theme laps and more. We also have a variety of local bands scheduled to play throughout the day, including cover band Not For Nothing, alt-rock group Turnpike South, pop rock quartet Emergency Now, classic rock cover band Mad Dog Mary and Radiohead tribute group Fitter, Happier.
Please join us as we celebrate life, friendship and a chance to work together toward a cancer-free future.”
