Joey’s BBQ joins lunch truck brigade!

5/4/2010:

Lunch trucks are the new black

But Joey’s BBQ decides to try Jersey City first…

Yep – before you get too excited about mobile pulled pork sandwiches – you’ll either have to work over in Jersey City, or wait till Joey’s BBQ owner Kemal Baransel decides it’s time to give the Mile Square city a shot.

Good luck with the new lunch truck, Joey’s BBQ!

I just had a great idea, music, similar to mr softee. But the music must be related to the food beer barrel polka– pierogis, bbq-some shit kicker music and pizza- the godfather theme. They then could drive all over the city selling their food. This should make everybody happy and your could lower a pail from your window with the $$ in it and pull up the goodies.

They should turn the empty old US Agricultural Building lot into a lunch truck zone. I doubt Waterfront Corporate Building III is breaking ground anytime soon.

A kosher truck would do well.

good luck Kemal but please don’t run off my Grandma’s Pizza truck that’s been there longer than you guys.
I work at Harborside and I’ve got to say, we have a damn nice selection of lunch trucks around JC now 🙂

I have nothing but respect for Grandma’s Pizza truck, he is a very nice person, i did talk to him, and got some good advices from him. He has been around much longer than we did no doubt.
We don’t compete each other, we serve completely different type of food and create variety to people, so more people comes around us.
Hope to see you soon on our street Irish 🙂

Hi Everybody,

Yes finally our truck is ready and rolling since last week, We picked Jersey City for start-up and we are definitely will take permits for some other towns in future. But before we do so, we want to see how successful it can be. So far it is growing very fast, don’t get me wrong it is not as easy as it seems, I didn’t realize how many food trucks out there! Indian, korean, italian, helal etc. tens of them out there, the problem is not competing, such a small area and so many trucks, we are not allowed to be close to each other and most importantly to any restaurants…

Right now we are serving our delicious sandwiches along with 4 different kind of home made sides after 12:30 till 2:30 in between plaza 10 and plaza 5 (next to light train stop) and I am all ears to hear from you guys suggestions for a better location.
Please feel free to text to my cell during lunch, and I promise I will write you back to let you know where we are at that moment.
My cell number is 973 342 6973

Who knows if it goes well, we might have more trucks for to be different locations, at the same time…

Thanks for the support Hoboken, this is for me tremendously hard work but when I hear from you guys that our wings or ribs or pulled pork kicks ass, it is worth it.

Have a wonderful weekend

Kemal
