Pier collapse on Sinatra Drive
Sinatra Drive Pier continues to sink
As discussed in Wednesdays Council Meeting, here’s the current state of the crumbling pier on Sinatra Drive.
Read more about the collapse that sent vehicles plunging into the Hudson last October, and see additional pictures below.
10/17/06 Update:
Here’s a picture taken by the owner of the sunken car. See more pix on their live journal weblog HERE.

10/16/06:
This morning, a little after 1:00am, it was reported that the pier in which the Steven Institute uses as a parking lot began collapsing.
One car was confirmed in the water, and three or four others teetering on the edge.
NY State Police harbor patrol has just arrived on scene, and many Hoboken Fire and Police units responded as well. They’re currently waiting for a Stevens Tech engineer to arrive on the scene to determine the integrity of the pier and whether further damage may occur. I do find it ironic that a property owned by some of the worlds best engineers had structural issues. But thankfully no one got hurt.

What exactly is Hal’s salary and what exactly do you refer to as the standard rate? I’d really love to know the answer to both of these two questions!

The college and the Hoboken City Administration think that $ grows on trees. Stevens has to complete the garage and the Hoboken governing body has to adopt a balanced budget that represents the taxpayer. Steven’s pier collapse is one indication of their shortcomings as the city’s state takeover highlights the sad shape of the budget collapse in Hoboken. Meanwhile Hal is doing OK, just like the Mayor

Even more reason for the city to approve the new Babbio Center garage plans that are before them for review. The college can’t build it until they get their approvals.
Another thing: Toll Brothers received $6 million of tax payer money to complete the River Front walk in front of Maxwell Place. Stevens been allocated less than $1 million to complete their section along the River Lot. For-profit vs non-profit…
