Saturday Reggae at The Shipyard Marina
Got no plans for Saturday night?
Here’s a great idea. Incredible Reggae band Selective Security will be playing again at the Shipyard Marina on 13th Street from 6pm to 10 or 11pm! It will get down to the mid-40’s, so please dress appropriately. Not sure if they’ll have the heated tent yet. But they’ve said that they will continue with shows into November.
The Shipyard Marina has been an excellent place to enjoy great sounding live music while you indulge in a cocktail and soak in the NYC skyline views. A few weeks ago we saw Pete B and the Corporate Raiders jam for a few hours, and back in August is when we first stumbled upon this gem of a venue!
Winston Irie will be singing with Selective Security, so you’ll be in for a special treat!
He is inspired by everyone from Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Gladys Knight to Toots & The Maytals to the great Bob Marley. Coming from Brooklyn, Irie shows off his vocal range, amazing improvisational abilities and dead-on talent for adapting to different musical styles when he freestyles. Irie performs around the New York area with an array of artists and bands, including Selective Security, The Hot Heads, High Fashion Rockers, Ruff Stuff, Bomb Squad and his buddy Saxemillion.
They have played twice at the Marina this summer, and others who have seen them play have raved about them. They play great songs, and sound tight!
So Reggae fan or not, come out and enjoy something different this weekend. Hope to see you there!
