Massive city SUV causes problems

3/30/2010 Update:

I’ll leave this up to you guys…

Is it OK to give rides for family members?

When it rains it pours. Hoboken411 reader Rich brings that city truck up again, but this time in a different context:

“Here is a picture of that massive city SUV with a passenger which I believe it to be his daughter that he bring to school and back everyday in this city truck. Hope they never get into an accident because the city will pay for that or lets say the tax payers.”

3/26/2010:

According to a Hoboken411 reader, this giant Hoboken “Department of Environmental Services” truck blocking visibility at the corner of 12th and Bloom was creating hazardous conditions today…

Bad on all counts

“This morning I was driving to work when this truck hanging over the corner of 12th and Bloomfield which almost caused me to get into a bad accident. I had to slam on the brakes as an older man pushed his grandchild on a stroller who crossed the street and was blocked by this truck clearly hanging over the corner with no ticket or hazards on. While he was retarded for leading with the stroller – this truck totally made it unnecessarily difficult to navigate the intersection.

Thank god it was not worse!”

I suppose if there was blood and guts all over the streets and sidewalks, the “environmental services” truck might then come in handy? What exactly is in this dumpy SUV anyway?

Why do we care so much about who’s in who’s car?!!! LIke, Hoboken has bigger problems then putting our noses where it doesn’t belong. So what if the city worker is driving his daughter to school. I happen to know this employee and he is probably the hardest worker on the planet! He is definitely one of the most hardest workers in Hoboken! So, can we just cut the guy some slack?!! He’s just taking care of his family. Hoboken has gotten way tooo over populated with nosey yuppies. Don’t you think we need to concentrate more on why the town is claiming broke when it cost a fortune to live here! Come on ppl.! Stop getting wasted on the booze and pay attention to the important things in this town.

The bigger question is why do we need a “Department of Environmental Services” in a square mile city? How many trucks and employees make up this department? This is an instance where the County should share these mostly unused services.

City trucks should never take up residential spaces. Illegal or not. Zing!

It would be a fun day to follow this truck around. He runs errands with wife and children (maybe his,) works weekends (how can that be ?)but he drives the city truck on weekends and drives the city truck to and from work (if work is city hall). He lives in the 12th’13th/Bloomfield neighborhood where the photo was taken and parks wherever he wants every night.
